Michelin stars

This story began in 1900, when Andre Michelin first published a guide to help wealthy people with gastronomic affections choose the right restaurant for their travels. The cover of the magazine was red, which is why it was later called the "Red Guide". This is the most influential guide in European restaurant geography.

For a whole year, experts - true gourmets - travel incognito and evaluate all the restaurants on the way. They are not interested in service, not in the interior, not in value for money, and not even in the atmosphere, but only in the kitchen. That is why the face of every restaurant is a chef, literally everything depends on it. Experts never warn of a visit; nobody knows them either in person or from the back. The restaurant learns about their arrival ex-post. Repeated visits are possible. Particular attention is paid to those institutions that have already received the stars, because they can easily be taken away.

Grades

The restaurant in the guidebook is rated: one star means that the place must be visited, being nearby. Two stars are worth it to change the route of travel and, making even a considerable hook, join the almost perfect kitchen. This guide does not have the right to make mistakes, as it has an impeccable reputation. It also mentions those restaurants that have not received the distinction, but are worth a visit.

But three stars are given to the institution, for which rich people plan a trip to the country on purpose. This means that wine, cuisine, service, furnishings and even the expense will be at a world, exceptional level. It’s just that they don’t go to three-star Michelin-starred restaurants, you can get there only by appointment made in advance - in a month, or even two. So, the restaurants of Gordon Ramsay received three Michelin stars. How did he achieve this?

The beginning of the way

The Scottish town of Johnston has become the place where the new gastronomy star, Gordon Ramsay, was born. His biography began with the father's endless unsuccessful commercial endeavors, so the move was permanent, and only in 1976 the family managed to take root in Stratford-upon-Avon. Gordon was not lucky with the field chosen in childhood - football, although it all started more than well. Young Gordon Ramsay, whose biography as an athlete began at Warwickshire Football Club and continued at the age of eighteen with an invitation to the Ranger Club, injured his knee so badly that his sports career was over. It was a shame, but I had to somehow live on, albeit without football.

A college studying hotels and restaurants, Gordon Ramsay was carried away, although he was chosen spontaneously: you have to study somewhere if the sport is closed. The young man hoped for a long time that this was not forever, but a damaged meniscus is usually not amenable to treatment and recovery. Despite his sporting hopes, the culinary arts captured him more and more. And after graduating from college, Gordon Ramsay gets his first job in London. The restaurant where the future gastronomy ace began his career is quite prestigious, that is, he was finally lucky. This establishment was ruled by Marco Pierre White, and it was called Harvey's Restaurant.

French cuisine

At Harvey, Gordon Ramsay worked for about three years, then decided to study haute cuisine and got into the only three-star restaurant in England - Le Gavroche, which at that time lacked one star. There, his knowledge of French cuisine was improved in training with the famous hereditary chef Albert Roux.

Gordon Ramsay, whose biography as a high master was just beginning, was liked by the teacher so much that a year later, leaving Le Gavroche, he invited the student with him to the French Alps to work in the fashionable Hotel Diva restaurant.

Then, already in Paris, he was lucky enough to be present in the same kitchen with real culinary celebrities - Guy Savois and Joel Robuchon. Three years passed by an arrow, and then Gordon Ramsay completed his training. His biography as a culinary star was just beginning. He was invited to a private yacht for the first time as a chef.

Chef

After spending a year sailing in Bermuda, Ramsay returned to London to take up the position of chief at La Tante Claire in Chelsea. However, Albert Roux did not leave the ward alone, he invited Ramsay to Aubergine, when this "Eggplant" was also named Rossmore. Ru was well versed in people: his former student in four years managed to raise the restaurant rating in such a way that he was awarded two Michelin stars. Ramsey acquired a quarter of all shares in this institution, but was forced to leave the restaurant due to a conflict with the rest of their holders. All the kitchen staff and all the service staff left with Ramsay. An unprecedented event.

It was a difficult decision, but just then a new entrepreneur appeared - Gordon Ramsay. Biography (and his family was only happy about this turn of events) was getting closer and closer to the history of an entrepreneurial person. A lawsuit was launched against the fugitive with a lawsuit for a million pounds, because for the restaurant such a massive departure of workers was murderous. It closed for three months, as the staff was completely absent. Subsequently, all this litigation was hushed up, the parties parted amicably, and the details were not disclosed.

Master

For the three years of the existence of its own restaurant, opened in 1998, Ramsey receives three Michelin stars. He was the only British three-star chief at that time, and as the Scot, the only one in general. A little later, he opened a second restaurant - "Petrus", whose fame, although it turned out to be somewhat scandalous (forty-four thousand pounds for lunch wine!), However, he appeared Michelin star almost immediately - not a year passed, and after a few years there were two.

Further, one can observe the rapid growth of the Ramsay empire. Now he has only ten restaurants in England, six of which are Michelin-starred, as well as three pubs and twelve other restaurants located outside the UK. Gordon Ramsay Holdings Limited is worth about one hundred and sixty-three million dollars, nearly seventy percent owned by Ramsay.

Writer

Without departing from the stove, the chef began to outline his actions. In 1996, his first book, “Passion for Taste, ” which, unfortunately, has not yet been translated into Russian in the official version, has already been published. He liked writing books. By 2007, there were already fourteen of them, among them two autobiographical - "Resentment" and "Hands up." The latter instantly became bestsellers far beyond the borders of England. And in 2006, the Queen of Great Britain, Elizabeth II Ramsay, was awarded the Order of the British Empire.

TV star

Ramsay began acting on television in 1998. It was a series of television essays about restaurant life. The debut, "Boiling Point", was a success, so the sequel came out - "After the boiling point." But truly world-famous and crowds of fans unrelated to professional cooking brought television shows to him. In “Hell's Kitchen” and “Nightmares in the Kitchen” there was no documentary, it really turned out really show programs, bright and lively.

"Nightmares in the kitchen"

This show began on Channel Four in 2004. The action is this: at the beginning of "Nightmares" Ramsey comes to one of the restaurants, which suffers a financial collapse and therefore is on the verge of closing. Within a week, he finds and tries to solve all the problems of this institution. He acts strictly alone, except that designers sometimes help to change the restaurant interior. Five seasons of this show have already been released.

The work of Ramsey was liked by American producers, and a new version of the television show appeared, where the action takes place mainly in New Jersey. There Ramsey after a while checked how things were going in the restaurants he corrected. In addition, the Americans traditionally added pepper to the plot, where at times the heartbreaking conflicts formed, but with exacerbations, they now began to occur always. The American version is more generously funded, the interiors of the restaurants participating in the show are changing beyond recognition.

The f-word

This show is British. Ramsay has been very highly regarded as a wit since 2005. Here, too, we are talking about food, but there is no concentration on the standards of haute cuisine. Rather, it's the other way around. Ramsey is trying to prove to the viewer that healthy and tasty food is prepared without any special investments - financial, temporary and physical. This series has already withstood five seasons. We have popular recipes for Gordon Ramsay in Russian, printed, all of them mainly from this show. True, the translators did the needlewomen themselves, so there is no special faith in them. Recipes with clarifications are often found, for example: "Meatballs with pasta: three tablespoons of breadcrumbs, a little milk (?), Four hundred grams of ground beef (I have pork), a little basil (I have dill) …"

Surely many recipes in our country are looking forward to the recipe book in the original. And not only everyday, but also really tall, festive. People in Russia are interested in the biography of Gordon Ramsay, his personal life and, of course, all the culinary achievements.

Hell's Kitchen and America's Best Chef

Hell's Kitchen is an American reality show where Gordon Ramsay has released fourteen seasons. This is one of the most popular programs due to the passions and dramatization of the plot. Participants compete for a chef in one of the famous restaurants.

The culinary orientation of the reality show "The Best Chef of America", also the brainchild of the Fox channel, has been released not so long ago, since 2011, but it is very popular in the world. Here, amateur chefs play not only the title of chef, but also a cash prize and the publication of their own book of recipes.

Personal life

Gordon Ramsay at the very beginning of his career was forced to leave the restaurant due to an affair with his wife, but this does not count. He married in 1996 and is still happy. His brother-in-law was a schoolteacher, and her father controls the entire empire of the family’s restaurants. Gordon's chosen one's name is Cayetan Elizabeth. She gave birth to four little Ramsay: Megan - in 1998, Jack and Holly in 2000 and Matilda in 2002. Children from an early age actively participate in the TV show, that is, with their help, what Gordon Ramsay began, the biography and his family, continues. The photo below demonstrates this as well as possible.

The best friend is known for only one - the chef from the Ramsay restaurant, Marcus Weiring, who is at the head of Petrus. He had a very similar career path, and while Ramsay and Weiring found each other, the latter managed to work with the same chefs. And certainly a similar role, according to Gordon Ramsay, played a big role in this friendship.
