“Kandahar”, “Hunting for Piranha”, “Children under 16” - it is difficult to list all the wonderful films, thanks to which director Andrei Kavun could make himself known. By the age of 46, the master managed to remove about ten film projects and series, test his strength as a screenwriter and actor. What is known about this talented man, what kind of work can he rightfully be proud of?
Andrey Kavun: childhood and youth
The future famous director was born in the Ukrainian city of Lviv, this happened in December 1969. Andrei quickly figured out his mission, largely due to the fact that the professional activities of his parents were directly related to the world of cinema. The boy tried to spend as little time as possible on studying, as he had many hobbies.
What did Andrei Kavun do in his school years? The future director and screenwriter liked to read books, compose and write his own fascinating stories that his classmates read. Of course, he was fascinated by the mysterious world of cinema, of which the guy wanted to become a part. It is known that an indelible impression was made on him by the adventure film “Pirates of the 20th Century”.
The beginning of the way
Having received a certificate, Andrei Kavun devoted three years to military service, where he gained experience as a sailor. Then the young man went to the capital to storm VGIK. Andrey successfully passed the creative contest, got on the course, which was conducted by Vladimir Khotinenko.
It is known that in his student years, Kavun managed to test his strength as a literary Negro, this work attracted him primarily by the opportunity to get hold of money. He also combined his studies with writing novels, but later destroyed these works, disappointed in them. However, the director does not regret the time spent, as the experience of writing his own works helps him easily relate to the need to make changes to the scripts created by him. It is curious that he calls his scripts and strangers drawings for future paintings.

Andrei Kavun is a director whose path to fame began with the Cadets television project. Working on it, the master made every effort to convey the features of the era, which was considered in Todorovsky's biographical work “Remember - Do Not Remember, ” from which the plot of the series was borrowed. Unexpectedly for the creator of the show, it gained immense popularity, and Kavun won the hearts of his first fans.
“Piranha Hunt” is an action movie that Andrei took up at the invitation of Valery Todorovsky. The main character of the film is special agent Kirill Mazur, the role was entrusted to Vladimir Mashkov. The character secretly consists in the mysterious special forces "Piranha", whose leaders send him to Siberia with a dangerous mission. Of course, the charming workmate Olga, performed by Svetlana Antonova, joins the main character. Kandahar
“Kandahar” is the most famous film project that Andrey Kavun shot. The filmography of the director got this drama in 2010, it is interesting that the plot of the tape is borrowed from real life. The focus is on the misadventures of Russian pilots who, by the will of fate, were enslaved by Islamic terrorists. Unhappy had to wait for more than a year.
According to the director, the script for the picture was written by him in strict accordance with the story of the participant of these events, Vladimir Sharpatov. The interview he took from the pilot dragged on for three days. Even the smallest details were not disregarded. Sharpatov personally drew a plan of the prison, told about the emotions experienced. All this was reflected in the film, whose budget exceeded seven million dollars.
It is known that the picture was shot in the territory of Morocco. When writing the script and filming the drama, Kavun focused not on the scenes of violence, but on the inner experiences of the heroes, their struggle with fate and with themselves. The star of the tape was Vladimir Mashkov, with whom the director had already collaborated earlier. The actor played the informal leader of the pilots who were in trouble, dreaming of pulling his comrades out of captivity alive and well.
