The rodent will feel great even in a small apartment, because all he needs is a well-equipped cage where you can eat, sleep and play.
Recently, Angora hamsters have been especially popular. These cute furry creatures immediately attract attention. Many believe that this is a separate type of rodent, but it is not. Longhaired animals are just a species of Syrian hamsters. The fact is that in nature fluffy rodents with different colors are often born, but they do not survive, because they are not adapted to the natural habitat.
The Angora hamster appeared only when animals began to breed in captivity. Breeders were able to save long-haired representatives, with further crosses it turned out to create not only a natural yellowish color, but also cream, white, black, silver, tortoiseshell. Angora hamsters have a long coat: in females it reaches 2 cm, and in males it is 5 cm, so caring for them is slightly different from the content of ordinary rodents.
There must be a house in the cage where they could hide and relax. Since the wool is long, Angora hamsters will not be able to run in a regular wheel: the diameter of the toy should be at least 20 cm. The litter is also characterized by some features. Ordinary sawdust will constantly get tangled and interfere with the rodent. Wood pellets are best used.
Some owners believe that a fluffy fur coat needs frequent washing, but in no case should you bathe a hamster, because it can catch a cold. From time to time, long hair needs to be combed and tangled objects removed from it. Angora hamsters are able to independently worry about their appearance. You can put them in a bath with sand for swimming, where they will self-clean.
If you really want to have several Angora hamsters at once, then you need to keep all of them in separate cages, because they don’t like neighbors: even in the wild, rodents settle at a distance of about 100 m from each other. To keep the skin always beautiful, give the animal vitamins and balanced feed. The Angora hamster is very demanding on food. A photo of this rodent will not leave anyone indifferent, but in order to have such a handsome man at home, you need to stock up on grain, fruits and vegetables.
Hamsters are very fond of oats, corn, millet, flax. Plants and vegetables must be juicy. The pet will be very happy with apples, bananas, zucchini, lettuce, carrots, pumpkin, tomatoes, pears. Protein food should only be of animal origin: kefir, low-fat cottage cheese, boiled chicken. Potatoes, garlic, cabbage, onions, citrus fruits and other exotic vegetables and fruits should not be given. The hamster’s food should always be fresh, then he will live a long life and will not be sick.
