Surgut is a multinational city that is successfully developing through the extraction of raw materials. Despite the harsh winters of Siberia, it has a developed infrastructure and priority for the state and its economy. Among other things, this city has a long history. In the heart of the city, on the transport ring "Lenin Avenue - Ostrovsky Street", stands a monument on which four men stand. They are images of the founders of Surgut. The authorities decided to perpetuate the estate, the people who were involved in the construction of this city. Two architects were engaged in designing the monument at once: S. Mikhailov and N. Sokolov, as well as sculptors L. Aristov, M. Tskhadadze and A. Ivanov.
The sculpture has very impressive characteristics. It consists of bronze weighing 40 tons and a height of about 15 meters. It is divided into the exposition and the pedestal on which it is located. The monument was cast very far from Surgut, at the foundry of St. Petersburg.

The development of Siberia, the construction of new cities, the struggle against adversity and enemies was precisely the Cossacks. But these are not just military people. Siberian Cossacks were also workers, erecting city walls, houses, churches and other buildings characteristic of that time.
Unlike the western part of Russia, the inhabitants of Siberia, including Surgut, were free people. Serfdom did not apply to them. Freedom-loving and strong-willed people at all times inhabited the city, so it could grow so much.
