Bus stops for most people are associated with broken shops, cigarette butts, an unpleasant toilet smell and a bunch of advertisements covering the walls of the structure. But what if instead you could comfortably wait for your bus, for example, in your own living room, where paintings hang on the walls and fresh newspapers are neatly folded on the table? Are you intrigued? Welcome to Walkhampton, where a local has decided to improve public transportation waiting areas.
Unexpected glory
Walkhampton is located in the Dartmoor region of Great Britain. The population of the city is only 850 people, and everyone welcomes their neighbor. More recently, only the locals knew this village, but thanks to one of the townspeople, the settlement became famous all over the world.
Don Kalohi, a senior citizen, often traveled to the big city next door, where his daughter and two little granddaughters live. Each time, he was forced to wait for a bus at a small brick stop, where there was not even a bench, and the corners smelled of human waste. One of these days, he firmly decided to make this world a little better and fulfilled his promise.
Do it yourself comfort
Returning from the trip, Don, without hesitation, acquired a broom, paint and roller and in a couple of hours transformed the stop beyond recognition. Now it was clean and bright.
The origin of the words, which may surprise: nonsense - "cockerel."

It only remained to bring furniture to brighten up the stay of the few waiting. Don bought a couple of pillows and a rocking chair, fixed the lighting and added some paintings to the walls - now the stop looked more like a cozy living room than a public place.
Theme days
But that is far from all. Don not only plans to ennoble all the stops of the city, but also intends to decorate them for various holidays. So, for example, on Valentine's Day, he left on the benches boxes of chocolates, flowers and bundles of balls.
Already today a pensioner receives many thanks from the townspeople. Often on a bench at the bus stop he finds letters from truck drivers passing by.

It is interesting that even the youth who used to occupy these places in the evenings in order to relax noisily, cheerfully and violently, by the time of repair bypasses the "islands of comfort".
