It has long been the case in literature that women writers create mostly female novels, and men, as it were, for everyone. An even greater separation is characteristic of works in the style of fantasy and fiction. Anna Gurova is one of the few authors to write in the science fiction genre. Some of her works can be attributed to the classics of the direction.

early years

The future writer was born in 1976 in Leningrad in a family of Soviet engineers. While still at school, she wrote her first work, which was printed. As she herself later said, vague suspicions crept in her that the journalists write letters from readers themselves. Therefore, she composed a sentimental story and sent it to the local newspaper Five Angles. Anna was very surprised when her essay was printed.

She received her first higher education after studying at the Faculty of History of the Russian State Pedagogical University. Herzen. After receiving a pedagogical education, she worked for several months at school, but realized that this was not for her. True, Anna herself thinks that maybe she can become a teacher in 20-30 years. The girl decided to get a philological education by entering the special faculty of St. Petersburg State University, after which she went to work in the Hermitage. She worked in the museum for several years as an exhibition preparation manager, and then in several places - not at all creative.

First experience

Working in the main Russian museum, as an entertainment and from absolute lack of money, Anna Gurova began to take books for translation from various publishing houses. Once in one of the leading book publishers of the city "North-West" she was asked to write an adventure book about black archaeologists. As an experienced editor instructed her, giving the assignment, no deep thoughts should be in the work. It should be purely entertaining and light reading.

She did an excellent job with this task - the book had a lot of adventures and no thoughts. Anna Gurova notes that it’s even embarrassing to remember how much they paid for her. But still, this was her first royalties. She got a lot of pleasure from seeing her opus "Rainbow Serpent" on all the bookstores of the city. She believed that she could write.

Writing Profession

Anna Gurova wrote her real first book while still at university, just for fun. She then was going to become a teacher, and she did not even have a thought about the writing profession. The book was created based on the very popular computer game "Heroes of Might and Magic" at that time. And, according to the author himself, she is a completely independent work in the fantasy genre. In 2003, Anna began to earn only writing work. She writes books in the fantasy genre, fantasy and children's books.

In 2005, the book of Prince of Silence was published by Anna Gurova, which she considers her real debut, the first full-fledged book in which a lot of feelings and forces were invested. Later, she wrote a sequel commissioned by the editors - "The Cretaceous Dragon." For this dilogy, she received the Door to Summer Award for Best Book of the Year. In the near future, the third book Territory of Fear is due to be published. Until the writer herself decided whether she would be the last.

Continuation of creativity

In 2014, Gurova published the first non-fiction children's book - "Young Naturalist", with stories about nature. She also writes fiction under the pseudonym Alex Gradov, and a series of three books has already been published. Anna is a member of two literary associations of science fiction writers - B. N. Strugatsky’s seminar and A. D. Balabuha’s studio

Each new book for her is an adventure, entering an uncharted area, amazing meetings and waiting for an unusual ending. The main principle of Anna as a writer is to make it interesting. She tries to harmoniously combine spiritual development and self-realization with concern for the interests of readers. Japanese motives

She has been passionate about Japanese culture for a very long time, and its most diverse aspects. She is very close to the philosophy and aesthetics of this country. Anna Gurova sometimes writes, if there is a corresponding mood, tanka and haiku, traditional lyric poems. And even performed with her compositions at the All-Russian festival of haiku authors. Therefore, in some of her works there are Japanese motifs.

One of such books by Anna Gurova is “The Moon Warrior”. This is a fantasy about a boy from a devastated fishing village who became a novice of the monastery. The book is about the training of the sorcerer and martial artist, written on the basis of Sino-Japanese sources.

The main idea, according to the author, is about the friendship of two boys who decided to get immortality, and what came of it. She thought about this for a long time, almost from school times. Anna Gurova has already written a sequel - the book "Thunder Pearl". So far, a trilogy has been outlined, but if readers like it, then it promises to write a whole series.
