It is not necessary to be a millionaire in order to help people who need help. Each of us can start today. Even helping a single woman living in the neighborhood is a big deal. It is so simple: to help carry heavy bags, buy medicine or food as a gift, and make minor repairs. No matter what you can do and how much money you are willing to spend, for someone even these small investments can change the quality of life.

Simple man with a huge heart

Meet our compatriot - Anton Savchuk, a thirty-three-year-old builder. Thanks to his profession, he is able to carry out a variety of finishing and repair work. Changing the flooring, aligning the walls, sticking wallpapers, assembling furniture and even installing windows - all these are Anton’s daily duties at work. Incredibly, in his free time he does the same. This man, for his own money, makes repairs in the housing of veterans and simply poor pensioners.

Anton Savchuk says that for a long time he thought that many elderly people in Russia live on the border with poverty, if not below its line. Once a year, on May 9, in celebration of Victory Day, large-scale events are held. WWII veterans are invited to parades in all cities, officials communicate with them and sometimes give some gifts. Then the holiday ends, and everyone seems to forget about the existence of these people for a whole year. This is very sad and wrong. All these people have done a lot for the good of their homeland. They deserve to live in comfortable conditions. Under such circumstances, Anton could not remain indifferent, and then he came up with his own project.

The idea of how to help came up quickly. Anton can do almost all types of repair work with his own hands. Moreover, among his colleagues there were several more sympathetic men. The construction team has already completely redecorated several apartments. Anton and his assistants repaired a house divided into three residential apartments, in which two WWII veterans and a tram driver live.

As part of his “repair project”, Anton Savchuk met an amazing WWII veteran who has been living in a happy marriage with his wife for more than 60 years. Of course, the apartment of this family couple was also renovated. Another renovated housing belongs to a woman who survived the siege of Leningrad.
