In 1996, the "Moscow House of Photography" was opened - the first in Russia, where all attention was fully devoted to photographs, which occupy the main place. For 5 years it was closed for restoration, and after the opening it became not just a museum, but an entire art complex that amazes everyone with its scale.

Museum and Exhibition Center in the Field of Photography

The multimedia art museum presents for the audience a large number of photographs collected in one place on 7 floors - an impressive sight, especially for those who came for the first time. The “young” museum is very popular not only among photographers who want their work to be exhibited here, but also among ordinary people who can see the whole world through pictures, going down the wide stairs and getting acquainted with the expositions presented on each floor.

Nothing in the halls will distract the visitor: white walls, high ceilings, a minimum of furniture - all in order to focus only on photographs. However, if any topic is uninteresting, you can bypass it and follow the signs to what attracts you the most.

The art museum on Ostozhenka often creates fascinating exhibitions that many people come to see. Of great interest was the exposition about James Bond and espionage craft in general, as well as viewers like the works of Damien Hirst.

The Multimedia Art Museum in 2016 created a unique project, which is worth noting separately, dedicated to the history of Russia in photographs. This is an online project where photographs are collected both museum and private, created from 1860 to 1999. Everyone at any time and from anywhere in the world can see this archive.

What else to do in the museum

The Art Museum on Ostozhenka, in addition to viewing exhibition works, offers to visit other events that take place regularly, which will be especially interesting for photographers.

For example, in the museum building there is a cinema hall where various films are shown that are somehow related to photography. This may be an artist who starred in a movie or who tried to make a film, or this is a documentary movie that tells some fascinating story.

In the same hall, master classes from famous people on completely different topics, but related to photography, are also held. Anyone can come to some events simply out of curiosity and in order to learn something new, people with a certain preparation and knowledge can come to some events. Be sure to read the master class program before a visit to understand how interesting and necessary it is and whether it is possible to come with children.

In addition to educational and educational activities, the museum at 16 Ostozhenka also hosts entertainment events, which are most often aimed at children, where parents can take part. These are all kinds of quests, performances and concerts that will enthrall the child so much that he will not want to leave.

Rodchenko School

In 2006, the art museum on Ostozhenka opened a school where modern artists are trained, named after the famous Soviet painter and artist Alexander Rodchenko, who laid the foundation for the development of design and advertising in the USSR and was an excellent photographer.

Education in the school can be done both for free in the daytime, but you can go there by competition, and in the evening for a fee. Everyone can get an education through training in three workshops, where they talk about the basics of photography, dividing it into design, documentary and media.
