Probably, when it comes to fearlessness, everyone immediately begins to think about the heroic exploits and unprecedented courage of the people who committed them. On the one hand, it is. Indeed, one must be fearless and courageous to rush into a burning building or icy water to save human lives, or to cover the loophole of a machine gun with his chest and thereby protect comrades from deadly misfortune. But that is fearlessness in battle and in a dangerous situation where it is necessary. And there are other situations where reckless courage is not only unnecessary, but also unnatural.
How to distinguish fearlessness from cowardice
Each action has a certain meaning. Sometimes a person commits a bold act without thinking about the consequences when someone needs help. In contrast, there are ridiculous incidents when a “daredevil”, frightened to death, jumps over a two-meter fence or sigil from the ninth floor or even throws himself into fire and water so as not to be caught. He just takes his feet from retribution.
Fearlessness is a disinterested, selfless return of debt with one single reasonable purpose - to save and preserve. Recklessness has nothing to do with it. And if a suicide bomber blows up hundreds of civilians around, sacrificing himself and shouting: “For the Motherland!”, Then this is elementary cowardice and meanness that the same vile killers put into his head and soul, frightening him with reprisal against his family and sending him to death.
But what is the fearlessness of Alexander Matrosov, who, at the age of 19, during the Soviet offensive, laid his body on a large-caliber German machine gun and died, blocking an avalanche of lead and allowing the rest of our soldiers to capture the fortified point of the enemy, every schoolchild knows.
Fearless means fair
Fearlessness is justice and responsibility for the fate of others. Only an objective, selfless and bright-hearted person is able to correctly apply the law of fearlessness. Such a person is fair to everyone. And not only to their own kind, but also to animals and birds. This person does not make a difference who needs to be rescued, and he will give all his strength, even at the cost of his own life, so that the creature in trouble does not suffer. The just will fight evil until the end, defend honor, good and just cause, guarding them with their fearlessness. But the bold discoverers and testers show a sense of duty, patience and objectivity, plowing the waters of the oceans, making many kilometers of flights and discovering new lands. Again, fearless personalities can participate in such expeditions.
Fearless as a noble courage
Representations such as fearlessness and courage go foot in foot. But is it enough to be just brave to do fearless deeds? Are such people really never afraid of anything? Not at all. Everyone has fear. But any not the most courageous citizen who has such a quality as nobility can become a hero. And it’s not about fears at all. At a time when an extreme situation arises, the “shock shock” rule begins to apply. A man in a trance momentarily degenerates from weak to strong, and his fears become not just anything, but specifically courage. He directs his energy to suppressing a dangerous focus until he is eliminated and ceases to bring threats. After the shock, the hero may return to his usual indecisive state.
Fearlessness as a symbol of love
Love works wonders and moves mountains. Therefore, one can safely say that such a state of mind is fearlessness. The selflessness of the person in love overshadows any common sense. For the sake of his beloved object, he or she will go to the ends of the world and will live in a hut to be near. Or commit a real feat to achieve a positive result. There are no barriers and borders. Fences with barbed wire and long distances, the fulfillment of generous desires and a sea of flowers, explanations and affection, joy and sobbing. All this is natural, and if it brings success without bad consequences, it is thereby a sensitive fearlessness.
What we know of fearlessness
Here are some examples of that worthy despair when people rushed into the "pool with their heads" to confront ignorant destructiveness or to conquer unattainable peaks:
- Alexei Maresyev, a hero pilot who returned to aviation after amputation of both legs, which he lost when he met face to face in the taiga with a bear. Moreover, knocked down by the Nazis in this ill-fated 1942, he crawled eighteen days to the nearest village, showing fearlessness to ailments and a wild beast.
- Valery Brumel is a Soviet athlete champion who suffered a terrible motorcycle accident in 1965. You can list a huge number of merits and understand that they all relate to different cases. But all episodes of fearlessness are closely linked by one goal - the desire to make the world kinder and better.
