Ignorance does not relieve responsibility
Often the ignorance of a particular phrase, its incorrect use or understanding becomes the cause of all kinds of situations having a greater or lesser level of awkwardness. Take, for example, the expression “burn life.” Have you ever thought about his interpretation? Have you ever used this phrase? Or maybe it was used in relation to you?

If you look at the expression with the naked eye, so to speak, it is quite possible to interpret it not quite correctly. Moreover - there is the likelihood of an absolutely incorrect understanding, right down to the diametrically opposite.
A person who is little familiar with Russian phraseology may well think that to burn a life means to take advantage of all the opportunities that it presents, to risk exactly as much as is necessary to achieve a result. This interpretation is not surprising, because in the same English language there is a similar expression to burn out bright, which has a similar meaning. If you translate the phrase verbatim, you get something like "live in such a way that it burns brightly."
The expression is certainly beautiful, but it has almost nothing to do with the Russian version.
A completely different shade
As you can easily guess from the subtitle of this paragraph, in our language the phrase “burn life” has practically diametrically opposite meaning. The shade it has is clearly negative, and it is unlikely that you can boast of your erudition, praising someone in this way.
In the Russian version, a person who burns life is, if not a completely disappearing soul, then clearly approaching this. Most often, such personalities have a solid revelry in their minds, and for the most part they are not used to taking care of tomorrow at all.
Shade of luxury
An unequivocal answer to this question, of course, does not exist, however, in general terms, the phrase to explain labor will still not make up. Despite the richness of the shades of understanding of expression in the minds of everyone, the most common points of view on this subject exist only two.
If among your acquaintances suddenly there is someone who allows himself to live in a big way, to try all kinds of pleasures, starting with masterpieces of gastronomic persuasion, ending with the organization of large parties for which, perhaps, he will not even be able to pay, you know - this is a man who luxuriously burns his life.
As an example, perhaps, in this case we can cite the main character of the novel F. S. Fitzgerald “The Great Gatsby”. His slightly naive, somewhat frivolous attitude to life and money for the sake of achieving one single goal and has become a surprisingly fertile soil for the so-called burning. This was perfectly demonstrated in the film of the same name. By the way, the life of almost the entire American elite of the 20-30s perfectly fits this description.

Nevertheless, people who descended to the very bottom of it in due time will be able to tell about what it means to “burn life”. In some cases, this process is understood as just a manifestation of excessive frivolity, sometimes leading to extremely undesirable results.
The interpretation of such situations, of course, is simply an incredible amount. For example, an understanding of expression as the presence of some destructive habits such as drunkenness or even drug addiction is quite common.
For many, the life-burner looks like a person who does not want to do anything decisively to improve it, to achieve any new heights. In a word, a person is not at all ambitious, and sometimes completely indifferent to reality.
