The beautiful design of the grave is a peculiar way to give the last honors to a person who has passed away. People who have lost loved ones are faced with the need to solve a huge number of issues related to burial. After choosing a place, you need to think about how to properly design the site, which one to choose a flower garden for the grave. The territory is small, so it is important to adhere to certain standards.

Every effort must be made so that the burial place causes a bright sadness. Then everyone who comes to the grave will be able to remember a person, mentally communicate with him. The appearance of the site should contribute to pacification and reconciliation. Therefore, it is worthwhile to turn out from bright, colorful colors and inappropriate decor.

Memorial complex or gravestone?

As a rule, the complete set of a monument provides a flower garden. Often it is rectangular, located in front of the tombstone. But custom-made specialists make other forms. The flower garden can be one with the wall or mounted separately on a stand.

Funeral agencies offer customers different ideas on how to decorate the grave. On the site, they create real memorial complexes, which are a symbol of eternal and good memory. Such large-scale and architecturally complex structures are very expensive.

But the most important thing in the arrangement of the grave site is the need to create conditions so that everyone can spend time comfortably next to the deceased and indulge in memories. Therefore, the complex may be inexpensive. You can limit yourself to a tombstone, flower garden and fence, a table and a small bench.

To give the burial place a presentable, well-groomed appearance, you can lay out a basement made of artificial or natural stone. It is important that all the elements that are on the site are in harmony with each other.

The functions of plants that land on the grave

The assortment of plants that are suitable for planting on the site is quite wide. They perform various functions and are necessary to create a holistic and beautiful composition, which will be built taking into account all traditions.

Plant Groups:

  • Species intended for lawn.

  • Plants in close proximity to the monument, framing it.

  • Seasonal species.

Conventionally, the territory can be divided into parts: ground cover and lawn plants should occupy about 60% of the area, 25% can be provided for species that will frame the monument, and 10-15% should be allocated for seasonal plants.

Do I need to plant trees?

When choosing a flower garden for a grave, it is worth remembering that the trees framing the monument are not planted directly at the burial site. They can be located nearby. For the first time after the funeral, it is enough to plant seasonal plants. No need to plant perennial species, since subsidence of the soil will take several years. Depending on the humidity, this process lasts 2-4 years. At this time, it is better to limit yourself to short-lived plants, decorative dusting and form a temporary composition.

What if there is no way to often clean the grave?

This situation, unfortunately, is not uncommon. To minimize the work on the grave site, some people prefer to decorate the flower garden with stone slabs or gravel. From this design it blows cold and sadness. It is better to opt for perennials that do not require special attention: peonies, fern, aquilegia or ornamental cereals. Then the flower garden installed on the grave will give a sense of peace. The burial place can be decorated with a periwinkle, a tenacious or other ground cover plant.

If relatives do not have the opportunity to often visit the deceased, it is worth giving preference to shrubs: horizontal cotoneaster, Fortune euonymus or cinquefoil. If you know what flowers the deceased loved, you can also plant them in the flower garden.

The design of the upper edge of the grave

Often, large tree-shrub plants predominate in the plant composition. As a rule, they are located on both sides of the monument. It is better to choose those species that are characterized by slow growth and whose length does not exceed 250 centimeters. Depending on the area, they can be from 2 to 5 pieces.

What other trees might be appropriate in the cemetery? The grave is also decorated with coniferous and deciduous species. It can be mountain pine, thuja, juniper, fir or spruce. Trimming them is not required, they adapt to any conditions. To increase the depth of space, you need to arrange the plants at different distances from the monument.

Caring for graves that are well-maintained in this way does not bring much trouble. Trees do not require pruning and cutting. In this case, the flower garden can be planted with plants that are unpretentious and adapt to conditions. Of the evergreen and deciduous, it is worth giving preference to the holly magonia, rhododendron daursky, henomeles, panicle hydrangea, lilac and various types of viburnum.

How to make a lawn?

In order for the flower garden (to the grave) to have a complete look, you need to think about the lawn. It occupies most of the area and should close the earth as tightly as possible. The height of such plants is in the range of 5-25 centimeters. It is important to remember that the plants that form the lawn must tolerate cold and snow well.

Of the evergreen perennials, you can choose the following: periwinkle, Iberis, Colchis goryanka, saxifrage. Juniper and cotoneaster are horizontal woody ground cover species. The herbaceous perennials that are suitable for the cemetery are creeping tenacious, loosestrife, tiarella, and phlox soddy.

Caring for the graves, which are decorated with ground cover herbaceous perennials, requires more time and effort.
