The Irish composer Johnny McDade learned his mastery in the traditional way: he played music in front of the audience and watched which songs are better accepted. Since childhood, he played in various groups. McDade moved to London at the age of 17. Prefer music to college.

He recalls: “I started to write music when I played covers in the streets of London. Sometimes I could play something between popular songs and get an immediate reaction. I could feel if the audience liked what I was writing. It was an honest school.”.

After a few years in London, Johnny founded the Vega 4 group. After concluding a contract and achieving success in the States, the management of the record company changed and sent the group free-floating. Vega 4 took an unexpected break in work, and McDade recorded a joint hit with Paul van Dyke - the song Time Of Our Lives. Unable to work on fresh material for Vega 4, as well as catching fire on open opportunities to write for others, Johnny decided to hone his songwriting skills.

McDade says: "I went on a tour of America. For months I wrote music with everyone who agreed to work with me. Hip hop authors, country musicians, guys, girls, bands, producers - everyone who was ready to write with me. The idea was to absorb the essence of songwriting and be open to all sorts of opportunities. In collaboration with different people, I gained great experience and found real energy for work."

On the road to American adventure, McDade was intercepted by Johnny Quinn, drummer for Snow Patrol, and McDade was the first to contract Polar Patrol Publishing. Subsequently, he joined the group and became an important member of their composition. For Snow Patrol, Johnny often writes with the band's lead singer, Gary Lightbody.

Joining the group, Johnny continued to hone his composer skills, working with groups such as Example, Foy Vance, Rudimental, Kodaline. Johnny also collaborated with popular musician Ed Sheeran on his hit album X, for which he received a Grammy Award in 2015.

Johnny McDade says of his work this way: “What I'm trying to do is understand what the artist I work with wants to tell … in order to get to the heart of things, show vulnerability, find out his true thoughts. Work with the musician for me, as an ecosystem: everything changes and grows in energy emanating everywhere. Writing a song is an alchemy. To create something new you use your experience, lived life, love, pain, wounds, pleasures, joys, knowledge of those people who used to be met, and ultimately, their nature. songs are born."
