Elena Chekalina is just such a unique person, because she is a philologist, journalist, teacher, TV presenter, restaurateur, writer and culinary specialist all rolled into one. Despite the fact that Elena took up cooking delicious food at the age of 25, as they say, it’s never too late to learn and learn something new.

Biography

On January 8, 1967, in Moscow, little Lena was born in the family of the journalist Valery Chekalin and his wife, a lexicographer and literary editor. Since childhood, the girl dreamed of being a teacher and, having matured, she realized her dream by enrolling in the philological faculty of Moscow State University.

Having received the coveted diploma, Elena Chekalova began to teach her native language and literature for foreigners and at the same time got a job in a historical and literary school. But this seemed not enough for the girl’s realization, and she began to write articles for “Soviet Culture”, “Kommersant” and “Moscow News”. She covered various topics: sports, cinema, politics and, of course, cooking.

Personal life

The first novel in Elena’s life happened when she was 18 years old. Her chosen one was a Frenchman, the relationship was serious, but in the end the couple broke up. And while still an employee of the Moscow News newspaper, she met her future husband Leonid Parfyonov. According to Chekalina, they brought food.

A friend brought Leonid to her future wife for dinner, and, entering the house, he said: “The house smells special, there is happiness here and always will be.” And so began their stormy romance, ending with the wedding, which they played in 1987. The holiday was modestly celebrated, only native people were on it. A year later, the couple had their first-born son, Ivan, and five years later, Elena Chekalina gave her husband Maria's daughter. The couple are still happy together.

Elena appeared on the screen of the first channel in 2009, she was invited to lead a small column on nutrition. It was called "There is happiness!" Elena managed in four minutes not only to prepare a simple and tasty dish, but also to tell the story of its origin. A year later, Konstantin Ernst proposed to release a full-fledged program with the same name.

Inspired by the success of the program, in 2012 Elena Chekalina released her first book, World Recipes, which collected recipes from around the world that can be easily prepared from ordinary products. A little later, she releases a second edition called "Eat!". It contains the best ways to prepare salads, soups, pies, cakes, breakfasts and snacks. And also there is a book for beginner housewives - “The first year is married. There is happiness and love. ” In addition to recipes, the books provide tips on table setting, product selection. In 2014, the couple opened their own restaurant, “Let's Go, ” and Elena stopped working with Channel One.
