What is the name of a person who loves people? You can answer in monosyllables - philanthropist. And do not explain anything else. Philanthropist - well, great! A beautiful word, sounds noble. But this term means, in fact, much more than abstract humanity. First of all, a philanthropist is a person who embodies the love of his neighbor in practical forms.

Term history

It has already been said above what the name of a person who loves people is called. This term comes from 2 other ancient Greek words meaning "man" and "love." By the way, in the same Ancient Greece there was a developed institute of charity, and many prominent historical figures were very active in this. So, Guy Julius Caesar provided various assistance to the poorer segments of the population as a tool to maintain their popularity among subjects. However, in those days, charity came to those in need not in the form of money, but in the form of food, clothing, home repair, treatment, etc. This is the name of the person who loves people.

In the future, charity became one of the significant phenomena in Russian and Western societies. And if in European countries philanthropy continues to this day, charity in Russia has disappeared with the revolution. In the USSR, everyone was equal, respectively, there were no rich and poor, which means there were no objects of help and those who would do it.

People should be loved not in words but in deeds

On the one hand, in our society there is a huge shortage of philanthropy. People are increasingly moving away from each other, are not even interested in the affairs of their parents and relatives. It is no secret that consumer relations in modern society are already extending not only to consumer goods, but they have already “eaten through” human relations. On the other hand, there is a revival of the culture of charity and all sorts of studies show that people donate more and more every year.

Another question is in what form this happens. We see how other charity events are attended by women and men dressed in furs and diamonds who collect money for an orphanage, hospital or for targeted assistance. Frankly, such events have little in common with true philanthropy. In this case, for many characters this is an opportunity to simply attract attention and create an informational occasion. Not to mention such things, when numerous charitable foundations are just a cover for laundering and pumping money out of people and the budget. However, we will not talk about sad things, because there must be true philanthropists on Earth …

What should a man who loves people do?

What is the name of charity - philanthropy, sponsorship, philanthropy, patronage - it does not matter. The main thing is not the form, but the content. A true philanthropist is a person who sacrifices his time, money, personal comfort and convenience in order to improve and alleviate the fate of those who need it.

Modern philanthropists are far from their predecessors, both in terms of the amount donated, and in the technology of assistance. Today, no one, at least in the civilized world and among truly respectable, large-scale philanthropists, gives money, so to speak, "just like that." These people came up with whole financing systems, which include various funds, companies, organizations that control the income and expenditure of funds.
