You probably heard that word - freak. You may even have met them in the streets. They cannot be overlooked. They attract attention wherever they are. So who are they?

Frick is a collective definition for people who use their appearance as a means of self-expression and, at the same time, are not part of any of the existing subcultures. They create fundamentally new images, without being afraid to seem ridiculous or ugly. No wonder the word 'freak' itself is translated from English as "freak". A freak is a person who is often prone to exaggeration. He has no sense of proportion. If you pierce - so the whole face, if you dye it - then so that the mother would not recognize.

The subculture of freaks has no specific philosophy. Yes, and aesthetics, too. These are just people who strive to distinguish themselves from the gray mass using visual means. Of course, each of them has its own philosophy and beliefs, which led to such an extravagant exit. But they rarely join in groups with their own kind and, as a result, you are unlikely to ever meet two identical freaks.

Freaks do not have any common and required attributes. As a rule, each of them chooses for himself any style that follows. Contrary to popular belief, piercings and tattoos are also not attributes of freaks (remember the same Marilyn Manson). But most often they still have any body modifications (from dyed hair to subcutaneous implants). It depends on the individual philosophy of man. After all, a freak is, first of all, a person who defies public opinion and changes his appearance in accordance with his attitude.

Freaks can be found everywhere. But, as a rule, most of them are in developed post-industrial countries.

Japanese freaks are especially famous, who, with their appearance, can easily shock an unusual audience. It is understandable, because the visual culture in Japan has reached a high level. In this country, self-expression by changing its appearance is common and is perceived normally. In our country, people have not yet become accustomed to such "antics"; therefore, many consider freaks to be "wild" and "abnormal." Such a lack of tolerance must be explained by the echoes of Soviet culture, when universal equality was accepted as an ideal, and the distinguished appearance was not welcomed. And in Europe, meanwhile, the culture of freaks is flourishing, finding more and more new means for self-expression.

Freaks, as a rule, are non-aggressive towards others if they don’t feel pressure from them. These are people who have found harmony within themselves, even in a slightly strange way. Therefore, the opinion that freaks are dangerous is unjustified. They assert themselves not by violence against others, but through their appearance, therefore they treat people peacefully.

Frick is, in general, the same person as everyone else, only choosing a different way of expression. If others declare themselves, creating something new, communicating with others or simply actively doing what they love, then freaks do it, standing out externally.
