Ex-midfielder of the Russian national team Igor Semshov is a native of Moscow, he was born on April 6, 1978. From a young age, his father, an ardent fan of the Torpedo team, instilled in him a love of football. The son simply admired the masterful game of the "road builders" - Sergey Agashkov and the Savichev brothers.
Igor Semshov began his football career at a school in Moscow CSKA. His mentor was Eugene Dulyk. Gradually, he turned into a maneuverable midfielder, able to beat several rivals at once, and this despite the fact that fate did not reward him with tall stature and athletic physique.

Capital "Torpedo"
However, the career in CSKA at the beginning striker began to take shape not as Igor wanted. He often sat in critical matches on the bench, the coach did not allow him to fully reveal his potential. As a result, after some time (in 1998) Igor Semshov decides to continue playing football for another club - his beloved Torpedo (Moscow). He will defend the honor of “road builders” on the fields of the country over the next seven years, becoming an experienced and skillful player. Partly thanks to him, the Torpedo team will win third place in the Russian Premier League in 2000.
National team games
Soon Semshova noticed the head coach of the Russian team Oleg Romantsev and recorded him in the main team for the 2002 World Cup.
On the football field, he got the position of an extreme midfielder, although he did not actively show himself then. It would seem that the second time Igor got into the national team may not have been destined, but no: he continues to defend the country's honor at prestigious football champions. The only paradox is the fact that in his native “Torpedo” Igor Semshov, whose photo after getting into the national team was often flashed in the press, fulfills the mission of an attacker, and in the main team the head coach sees him exclusively as a midfielder. Mentor Guus Hidding assigned him the role of “opornik”, and the Dutchman did not lose. Semshov masterfully coped with his task.
In general, the world and European football championships of 2002 and 2004 became stellar for the torpedo striker. Sports fame comes to him, fans speak positively of him. The coach of the “car artists” hands him the captain's armband of FC Torpedo. Leaving Torpedo
In 2006, the club "road builders" is experiencing a financial crisis, and its management decides to terminate the contracts with leading players.
Igor Semshov was no exception. However, the footballer did not have to sit long without work: the famous coach Yuri Semyon suggested he become a player in the Dynamo capital. Semshov, without hesitation, agrees. However, the first season in the new team turned out to be ambiguous for Igor: not everything turned out as he wanted. And in general, the game of the whole team of that period was not brilliant: it occupied the last places in the standings. However, things went well for Dynamo after Andrei Kobelev succeeded Semin as head coach of the club. He was able to make Semshov one of the key players on the football field. Igor’s activity and skill are again noticed by the head coach of the Russian team. Guus Hiddink once again takes Dynamo to the main team, whose players won bronze medals at the 2008 European Championship.
Leaving Dynamo
Over time, the striker decides to leave Dynamo and goes to play for St. Petersburg Zenit.
However, the then blue-white coach Dick Advocaat was in no hurry to let out a new player on the field.
Immediately rumors spread that the Dutchman did not find a common language with Semshov. Soon the new head of FC Dynamo Yuri Isaev announced that he would like to see Igor again in the ranks of his wards, having offered as much as 30 million euros for the player. After some time, Semshov had to terminate the contract with this club: the leadership changed, and, as they say, a new broom sweeps in a new way. Igor became less likely to enter the field after the Romanian coach Dan Petrescu became the Dynamo coach. He used his exclusive tactics of the game on the football field, which was somewhat different from the classic Dynamo, which provided for a scheme with two forwards. As a result, there was no place for Semshov in the new arrangement on the field, and he signs a contract with Wings of the Soviets. This was the last club a footballer played for.

Igor Semshov and his wife Larisa have been living in a happy marriage for several years. Their first meeting turned into first love. The wife of Igor Semshov met her mate at the first school bell when she went to first grade. For ten years they could not do without each other, and after receiving a certificate they parted for several years … But then they suddenly met again and realized that they should not be separated. In marriage, they had two children: daughter Victoria and son Victor. Igor does not mind the soul in his offspring. Today he devotes maximum time to his family.
