The historical emblem of Rybinsk by Empress Catherine II was highly approved in 1778. Together with him received the official status and heraldic signs of other cities of Yaroslavl governorate. In the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire, decision No. 14765 is dated June 20, 1778. However, the attached figures indicate another day for the approval of the emblems. They point to August 31, 1778.

History and significance

The author of the coat of arms of Rybinsk is a fellow herald master, college adviser I.I. von Enden. In 1863 there was a reform. It concerned heraldic images, and in the course of its implementation, a project of the updated coat of arms of Rybinsk was created. Officially, this sign of the county town of Yaroslavl province was never approved. In accordance with the project, a wave-shaped belt was placed in the scarlet shield. At the tip of the shield he was accompanied by two golden sterlets. Also here you could see a golden pillar. He framed a shield. The emblem of the Yaroslavl province was located in the free part. The shield was surrounded by golden ears of wheat. He was crowned by a silver walled crown. Ears connected the Alexander ribbon. The historical emblem of the city was not used in the Soviet period. In 1984, the city was renamed Andropov. A coat of arms was not created for a settlement with this name. In 1989, the city returned the name Rybinsk. He was part of the eponymous municipal district.
