In Kitay-Gorod, a historical district in the center of Moscow, there is a small but very cozy square - Ilyinsky. It occupies only 2.28 hectares. It was defeated in 1887. It was designed by the architect Sherwood Vladimir Osipovich and engineer-colonel A. Lyashkin

About 50 thousand rubles donated by officers and soldiers of the Grenadier Corps were spent on its construction. The author of the monument was the architect of the square itself - V.O. Sherwood.
The southern entrance to the square is decorated with a monument to the Slavic enlighteners Cyril and Methodius. It was opened on May 24, 1992. Its creator was the Russian and Soviet talented sculptor Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Klykov.
