The city of Sergiev Posad is an ancient Russian city, its history begins from the XIV century, it is known not only to residents of Russia, but also to foreign tourists. Only 50 km away from Moscow, which makes it very convenient for an excursion visit.

The city received its name in 1782 at the direction of Catherine ΙΙ, named after its founder Sergius of Radonezh. The historical, spiritual and architectural monument of Sergiev Posad, its main attraction is the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra. This is a working monastery, which is visited annually by tens of thousands of pilgrims and tourists.

The author of the monument, Evgeny Antonov, decided to finalize the sculpture due to public resonance.

It is planned by 2010 to create a memorial complex on Kuznetsov Boulevard, of which a monument should become a part.

The memorial of glory to the heroes who fell during the Second World War was opened in 1950 at the site of the mass grave of Soviet soldiers. In 1960, 259 soldiers were reburied here with honors, and in the same year a granite obelisk was erected at the burial site.

In 1977, a bowl was installed near the obelisk and the Eternal Flame was lit, which was delivered from Moscow from the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In 1978, the memorial complex was reconstructed. Set a semicircular composition with a star and a banner. The old cup of the Eternal Flame was replaced with a new one and memorial plates were fixed.

The monument to the creators of the Russian military shield was opened in 2007. The majestic figure of Nicholas the Wonderworker is depicted, who holds a sword in one hand and a temple in the other. The sculpture symbolizes the unity of military valor and spirituality. Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker is a well-known defender of all innocents in the Orthodox world, a mediator of warring parties. The author of the sculpture is S. M. Isakov. Monuments related to Orthodox events, saints or victims of the Orthodox faith

Saints Peter and Fevronia are especially revered in Russia, because they are the patrons of family, marriage and love. The monument in Sergiev Posad was opened on July 8, 2014 on Ilyinskaya Street. In memory of the Saints, Russia established the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity (celebrated on July 8, therefore the opening of the monument was timed to this date).

The monument to victims of the repressions was opened on Vifanskaya Street in 2012. It is a Poklonnaya Cross located on a granite pedestal of red color, in the center of which is a thorny wreath. The opening of the monument is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the execution of Father Pavel Florensky, it is dedicated to all victims of repression and persecution. In the near future it is planned to set up a square near the monument and build a memory center for Father Pavel Florensky.

The monument to Sergei Radonezh in Sergiev Posad was erected in 2000. The sculptor of the monument is V. Chukharkin, and the architect is V. Zhuravlev. The monumental sculpture "Sergius and the Pigeons" was opened in June 2014 on the Pancake Hill (opposite the Holy Trinity Lavra). The sculptural composition depicts the fateful moment in the life of a famous monk, when pigeons appeared to him during evening prayer, each of them symbolizes his student. This phenomenon was regarded as having been answered by God.

In 1999, a monument to S. I. Mamontov, the director of the railway and the patron of the city, was erected on the forecourt of the city. He built the Moscow-Yaroslavl-Arkhangelsk railway at his own expense, having considered it of great importance for the state and the city.
