Germany was in an economic crisis at the beginning of the last century and it was necessary to do something, somehow correct the situation. One of the steps to restore trade relations between the cities of the country was the appearance in Koenigsberg (now Kaliningrad) of the Eastern Fair, which was first held in 1920 at the local zoo.
She was very successful, and the authorities decided to hold it regularly. An exhibition complex was built for fair needs. Its construction began in 1920 and ended in 1924. A year later, the House of Technology was built. Together with him, the exhibition area of the fair reached an area of 80 thousand square meters. m
Soviet period
After victory in World War II, the city withdrew to the USSR and was renamed Kaliningrad. Its central market has an official opening date of April 30, 1947. It was formed on the site of the former cavalry barracks and has long been of agricultural importance.
The situation changed in the early nineties. The central market was reconstructed and received modern trading places. In the fall of 2007, the market leadership changed. The city administration has set the last task - to make Kaliningrad more developed economically. The central market had to meet all modern requirements, which was successfully implemented.
