All her life, until she retired, Antonina worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature. She loved children very much and raised two sons who grew up as real men. Antonina lived in a quiet place by the river, in the private sector. All the neighbors around were prosperous, respected the former teacher, and sometimes their children brought her to work. But in a neighboring house lived a dysfunctional family - a mother with two children.
History of dysfunctional neighbors
It so happened that Antonina’s neighbors were dysfunctional. Olga herself raised two children, a boy Vova and a girl Katya. With her husband, they were divorced. While the grandmother of these children, Olga’s mother, was alive, everything was fine. Then she was gone. In the end, everything went wrong - the children went hungry, poorly dressed, groomed. In most cases, they were left to their own devices. We walked in the yard, went to the river.
Mercy of Antonina
Antonina could not remain indifferent to the children whom she knew from birth. She always fed them, invited them to visit. The children were even happy with a bowl of hot soup.
To the woman’s question: “What did you eat?” they answered that a bun, bread or raw carrot with an apple. Most likely, their mother did not even cook normal food for them.

Antonina understood that children do not learn lessons, skip school. So, they cannot grow up as normal members of society and find decent work. She decided to deal with them. Fortunately, both Katya and Vova showed interest in studying. Antonina invited them to her secretly from her mother and taught them writing, reading and math, all that elementary school students need to know. She also sometimes taught them how to cook.
Children never told their mother that they ate and studied with a neighbor. They thought that she would scold them.
