Art has always been an important part of the life of every cultured person, thanks to which he can come into contact with the beautiful. That is why museums and galleries, various kinds of exhibitions have always been an integral part in the life of any people.

Legacy of the people

And the Russian people can truly be proud of their cultural heritage, which has endured very much in the course of its centuries-old history. The Russian peasant, a peasant, had to endure the atrocities of the feudal lords, and complete enslavement, and the numerous wars in which he had to participate, and feuds, and state reforms. All this formed the Russian identity, dissimilarity to others, and was reflected in museums and galleries.

In this article we will talk about the pearl of the Russian Far East, which is an art gallery. Vladivostok received it for some services to the government.

A bit of history

Not much has been said about the history of this architectural monument. But every resident of the city absolutely knows for sure the code was opened by the beloved gallery.

1966, June 29, is considered the date when the art gallery opened. Vladivostok, or rather all of its inhabitants, gathered at its opening. However, not many people know that excellent specimens and popular collections of the gallery were replenished long before this date.

Before the Primorsky Picture Gallery (Vladivostok) opened, back in the 30s, on the basis of the art department at the V.K. Arsenyev Museum, hundreds of original objects of painting and graphics were collected, which were transmitted from various museums, in particular Moscow and St. Petersburg. And since over time the collection grew and grew, it was necessary to create a special gallery for these exhibits. After all, they could deteriorate or abyss.

The collection itself was replenished on the opening day. Some Russian museums presented the museum with exquisite paintings.

And today the art gallery (Vladivostok), the exhibitions of which are visited by all residents of the city, has expanded so much that it can easily compete not only with other museums in Russia, but also with world ones.

The Pearl of the Russian Far East

The seaside art gallery of Vladivostok is familiar with the whole name "cultural pearl of the Russian Far East." Naturally, this is no accident. In fact, this gallery is the only building in the whole region that stores unique collections of Russian, Soviet and Western European paintings of the 18th-20th centuries. And this is not all, because it is here that the visitor can find not only unique exhibits, but also objects of decorative and applied art.

The Art Gallery (Vladivostok is very proud of this) is the only art museum in the region, which presents unique collections with a rich history. This is a museum that focuses on a different age audience.

Gallery building

The gallery building can be considered an architectural monument, authored by Bazievsky, a famous military engineer. The building was built in 1899-1903.

The State Art Gallery (Vladivostok), more precisely, its central building, is located in the historical part of the city, next to the Maritime and Railway Station, V.K. Arseniev Museum and the central square of Vladivostok.

The picture gallery of Vladivostok itself has several departments. Here the visitor will find:

  • Russian art of the 18th-20th centuries.

  • Icons and church utensils.

  • Soviet art.

  • The art of seaside painters.

Now the main exhibition is defined in nine halls, in which more than 150 unique works are presented.

Modern services

Naturally, in our age of technology, museums and galleries should also change, since modern services are no longer satisfied with modern people. To date, in the modern gallery, the visitor is presented with QR codes for thirty copies that are exhibited at the exposition hall. This new format will expand over time. Visitors to the Vladivostok art gallery can also use free Wi-Fi in every hall of the building. And thanks to the new application, each visitor, if he wishes, can purchase a personal guide in his mobile device. And this is not only affordable, but also the best way to reach modern youth.
