The female body is a unique and incredibly complex mechanism subject to the activity of hormones. The work of the reproductive system is especially important and complex. So, there are several phases of the menstrual cycle. And when does ovulation occur after menstruation? It’s worth sorting it out.

What is ovulation?

If you want to find out when ovulation occurs after menstruation, then first understand the essence of this phenomenon. So, fertilization occurs due to the fusion of female and male germ cells. The female, called the egg, matures a certain period of time, then to be ready for conception. At the moment when there is a “combat readiness”, the follicle, which is a bubble, leaves the ovary and bursts at a certain moment (all this happens due to the activity of the luteinizing hormone). After this, a mature egg should either fertilize and go into the uterus to give rise to a new life, or leave the body in case of needlessness (if conception has not occurred). A mature egg lives only 24-36 hours. So, this very moment of ripening is called ovulation.

When to wait for ovulation?

So, when does ovulation occur after menstruation? It is quite difficult to give an accurate and reliable answer to this question, since each organism is individual and works in a special way. But doctors and scientists believe that the egg matures around 11-18 days of the menstrual cycle (the beginning of the menstruation is considered its beginning), depending on the duration of the cycle. If you count down, then from the first day of the next menstruation you need to count approximately 16-19 days. But sometimes ovulation begins immediately after menstruation, as it can be early or, conversely, late. In addition, in some women, even several eggs can go out in one cycle. In this case, it is very difficult to find out when ovulation begins after menstruation, because this, in fact, can happen at any time. Among other things, for some reason, in one or more cycles, such a phase may be completely absent.
