Belarus is famous for having the oldest forest in Europe on its territory. Imagine huge trees, impenetrable thickets, thickets and enchanting darkness. That was just a few hundred years ago almost the whole of central Europe. But now the cradle of the animal and plant world has survived only in a small piece in the south of the Republic of Belarus. It is not surprising that in the country you can find many unique plants that are on the verge of extinction. The Red Book of the Republic of Belarus tells about rare species. Plants listed in it can be found only in single copies in some regions.

general information

The question of preserving rare species of flora and fauna arose a long time ago. Scientists were engaged in this in the USSR. The modern edition of the main environmental book is the third supplement, which has incorporated many new species. The list of plants of the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus includes 137 names of vascular plants, 27 bryophytes, 21 species of algae, 24 lichens and 29 mushrooms.

These classes are the most difficult to guard. They are very susceptible to environmental influences, which means that after a few years they may not be in the country. The description of plants listed in the Red Book of Belarus begins with the definition of the category of extinction. Four means a very rare species found in a single copy. Unit - a species is quite common, but very vulnerable and can disappear in an instant.

Principles for Listing Conservation Crops

  1. The plant must exist on the border of its usual habitat or in a place remote from it.

  2. Rare growth in one or two places.

  3. The value of the species as a resource.

  4. Bright flowers that are massively destroyed because of their beauty.

When the 3rd edition was being prepared, the scientists were horrified. Before that, the Red Book of Belarus was very thick. Species changed one after another, and now many of them recorded in the second edition ceased to exist at all. This is primarily the fault of human activity. So, during the construction of a highway on the hills of Kryzhovka, a small area of sleep-grass was destroyed. When the Minsk Sea spilled, the bathhouse ceased to exist, and due to severe air pollution in the forests, arnica began to disappear. The Red Book of the Republic of Belarus cannot protect these plants from accidental extermination, but it can stop them from deliberate.

Consider which species are on the verge of extinction and are of most interest to people.

Forest Anemone
