Etiquette, communication culture - knowledge and skills in this area have become one of the most important qualities of modern man. Since in our time it is simply necessary to match the place, time and situation. Not only personal happiness, respect of others, but also success in business sometimes depends on these skills.
Situation in the country
Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of the population of Russia is alien to the concept of “culture of verbal communication”, ethics of behavior in society. Therefore, it is not surprising that in the schools of the “new generation” (that is, in the advanced ones) a new subject was introduced: “Fundamentals of secular ethics”. And this measure is already bearing fruit: younger schoolchildren demonstrate an understanding of how to and how to behave in society, what to say and what not to say. One can only hope that the "secular" skills that he has been taught will be fixed sufficiently in their minds that they will pass them on to their children. The overall level of intelligence would rise. How can you not wish this for your country?..

Qualities
The culture of communication is reduced mainly to manifestations of restraint, tact, intelligence, courtesy, the ability to establish contact, hear the interlocutor, maintain a conversation, find common topics, find something unifying with the interlocutor to establish a strong positive emotional connection with him.
The etiquette of communication is manifested in competent speech, in the absence of parasitic words and obscene language, in respect for the interlocutor and his point of view, in compliance with the rules of greeting and farewell.

The concept of "culture of communication" is sometimes associated with the observance of certain rules of behavior that correspond to the norms of a society at a given historical moment in time. Today, these rules have become: bear responsibility for what has been said; to contact other people as I would like to be addressed to you; veneration (elders, teachers, government officials, parents). Mutual assistance is welcome. In Russia, this rule is sometimes understood in an exaggerated form: it is not customary for us to report to colleagues, friends, relatives, although in other countries such measures are considered not only permissible, but necessary. For example, when it comes to the incompetence of the immediate boss, this is reported to the senior manager, motivated by concern for the enterprise as a whole.
Abilities
Recently, much attention has been paid to the ability to communicate properly. And this means: to effectively negotiate, establish important contacts, maintain the image of the employing company, and correspond to its role in society (the role of a parent, son, representative of a particular profession, friend, etc.). This performance can be achieved thanks to simple skills:
- the ability to interpret verbal (speech) and non-verbal (gestures, facial expressions, posture, movements) signals;
- the ability to argue their point of view;
- avoid communication barriers;
- take into account the peculiarities of the communication process, avoid their negative impact (for example, few know about what a high percentage of information is lost during the transfer of it from one person to another, and this knowledge could be used for the good).
Almost every of these skills has its own psychological training program. So, all this can be learned, mastered and brought to the level of skill.
The culture of communication of a modern person incorporates much more knowledge, skills than 10 years ago, before the active development in Russia of such scientific fields of knowledge as management, marketing, psychology, business ethics. Gradually, the level of intelligence among the country's population is increasing, which cannot but please those who are not indifferent to what quality of life we are moving to.
