Litter in Lake Baikal is called a shallow bay, which is separated from the reservoir by a sand spit. The water here warms up to 20ºС in summer and is quite pleasant for swimming. The embassy bay is named after the death of the Russian embassy, which was sent to China in the 17th century. In honor of them, a settlement was founded and a monastery was founded.
How was the bay formed?
The bay is separated from the lake by two sand spits - North and South, which has a length of about 7 km (this is the longest young spit of the lake). They could form on a flowing lake. Between the braids and the shore, a shallow bay forms, which warms up very well, so you can swim and fish here.
Geophysicists believe that soors are formed due to tectonic processes, as a result of which part of the coast sinks and is flooded by the waters of the lake. There is a tectonic origin in the Gulf of Failure on Lake Baikal. But as for the Ambassadorial litter, the even flooding of the territory, with an area of 40 km², and relatively shallow depth suggests that the bay was formed recently (about 1, 000 years ago), possibly as a result of the movement of the earth's crust.

The length of the Ambassadorial litter from the south to the northeast is about 10 kilometers, the maximum width of the bay is 5 kilometers. Area - 40 km².
