In our article, we want to tell readers about the Museum of Emotions (St. Petersburg), which opened recently in North Palmyra. We all traditionally consider St. Petersburg the Russian cultural capital, and if we visit such an institution in this city, we usually expect aesthetic pleasure. And our expectations in most cases are quite justified when they relate to classical museums. But contemporary art … it can be so unpredictable! We will try to impartially tell you about the exposition that awaits you in the freshly baked cultural center, and about the reviews of visitors. So, get acquainted.

Museum of emotions (St. Petersburg)

This is a very unusual place that arose through the efforts of the artist Alexei Sergienko. Visitors have to visit several room-zones, each of which is dedicated to one of the emotions of a person, and not only to visit, but also to plunge into these emotions, as they say, "with the head." The following installations await guests:

  • love;

  • surprise;

  • joy;

  • fear;

  • anger;

  • inspiration;

  • disgust.

As you can see, there will be a meeting not only with pleasant and bright experiences, but also with their complete opposite. For example, in order to survive the emotion of fear, a guest should be in a prison cell, in the middle of which there is an electric chair and a real coffin. By the way, in the coffin you will be offered to lie down, moreover, with the lid closed. They say that impressions last for a long time!

Acquaintance with disgust and anger also does not bode well. But the room dedicated to inspiration is filled with unusual neon lights, pleasant music and decorated with luminous decorations. Here, visitors can optionally write a message on the issued sheet of paper and attach it to the wall. “Love” will delight you with many hearts floating above your heads and an unusual bench on which you can sit together, only if you hug.

We will not describe all the installations that the Museum of Emotions (St. Petersburg) offers its visitors, so as not to destroy the effect of surprise. We will only say that in the rooms, in addition to various objects, visitors will also find smells and sounds, as well as video installations that help to feel the proposed emotion as much as possible.

Can children visit the museum

The Museum of emotions for visitors has an age limit of 12+. For children under the age of twelve, visiting the exposition is possible only accompanied by adults.

Museum Visit Reviews

And what do people who have already visited the Museum of emotions of St. Petersburg say? Reviews, unfortunately, in the majority are not very pleasant, and sometimes even indignant. Those who came to the museum with children are especially indignant. It is unlikely that a small child will like the video installation, which shows the cutting of pork carcasses with pouring blood and released intestines or a dead rat lying on the floor right in front of his eyes. And for the psyche of normal adults, this can be an overwhelming test.

Careless and striving for strong feelings young people respond to the exhibition more positively. Perhaps visiting such a place helps them get a dose of adrenaline. What absolutely all categories of visitors do not like is the high cost of entrance tickets.
