Today it’s not just a collection of exhibits, it’s interactive centers containing a variety of art objects. One of these places is the recently opened museum of emotions in St. Petersburg.
Concept
As conceived by its creator artist Alexei Sergienko, this is a place where a person can feel such strong emotions, which sometimes do not happen in a lifetime. According to him, the idea to create a museum of emotions came to him from childhood, when every minute was long, and an entire hour could seem like an eternity. For an adult, an hour is nothing, it flies by unnoticed, and the whole thing is in emotions. In childhood, they are stronger than ever, so they fill every minute of life with strong feelings. The artist offers to experience something similar in his museum.
The entire gallery space is divided into rooms, each of which is designed to demonstrate and evoke a particular emotion. All rooms are connected by corridors, the task of which is to move from one emotion to another. However, the corridors themselves have a certain function - to prepare a person for what lies ahead, to tune him in the appropriate mood.
To create the appropriate mood, art objects, installations, video and photo materials are used. Many objects are aimed at tactile perception, so a soft jumping floor awaits guests in the room of joyful surprise, imitating the sky in an inverted world, and cellophane in the corridor near the disgusting room prepares stuffed animals, insects and animal heads for sight. In the room of fear, you can not only sit on an electric chair or lie down in a coffin, but also see how your portrait on a tombstone will look. Of the pleasant rooms that the museum of emotions offers is a room of love with a huge red heart made of plastic tubes, an inspiration room where you can draw chalks glowing in the dark, and a room of joy with a throne and crooked mirrors that make you laugh.
It is noteworthy that this museum is the first of its kind not only in Russia, but throughout the world. Therefore, the author has been preparing the exposition for a long time, for 5 years he consulted with psychologists and psychiatrists, studied the relevant literature, all in order to fill the museum halls with precisely those objects that can cause the most vivid emotions.
Mode of operation
The Museum of Emotions works until late, so if you wish, you can tickle your nerves just before bedtime - the last tour starts at 22.30.
In general, the museum is open from 11 am to 11 pm.
Price
To immerse yourself in the world of emotions, adults will need to pay 600 rubles, and for children, students and pensioners in the museum of emotions, the ticket price is only 300 rubles.
There is also a family ticket - two adults with children can go for just 1000 rubles. By the way, the creator of the museum considers this place a great option for family leisure despite the presence of negative and even scary emotions. However, children under 12 years old are allowed only accompanied by adults.
