History of VDNH
From 1939 to 1959, the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition was held, at which advanced workers from all over the country gathered and demonstrated their achievements. Only the most honored shepherds and grain growers were honored to be seconded to Moscow to participate in this large-scale event.
From 1959 to 1991, it was the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR. During this period, technical and scientific achievements of the country appeared in the pavilions. From 1991 to 2014, the huge complex was called the All-Russian Exhibition Center.
Initially, the place for construction was chosen in the north-east of Moscow. Entrance to VDNH is opened by arched gates, impressive in their architecture. The entire territory covers an area of more than 520 hectares. The complex currently includes the Botanical Garden and Ostankino Park.
