The small city of Ivanovo is located in Central Russia. The first mention of him as a village dates back to 1608. At the end of the 19th century, by combining a village and several settlements, the city of Ivanovo-Voznesensk was formed.
Population of Ivanov: dynamics
According to statistics, by 2016 the number was 408 thousand people, which is a good indicator for the urban district.
A sharp increase occurred in the 30s of the 20th century, when from 177 thousand the population of Ivanovo grew by more than 100 thousand people. Further, until 1991, there was growth, and then recession, and by 2000 there were 459 thousand people, which is 20 thousand less.
Thus, a decrease in the population occurred until 2009, when the figure was 404 thousand people (the largest drop since the 30s). Currently, there is a growth trend, but at a very slow pace, as periodically the population of Ivanovo leaves the city and goes to the capital for a better life.
