Many of us from childhood remember the lines from his poems. The real son of his land - this definition is suitable for him without any reservations. And he, of course, deserved to be immortalized. Therefore, it is not surprising that an unusual monument to Yesenin appeared in Ryazan.
Monument Installation History
Ten years - it took so much time to finish work on it. The monument was created by the efforts of the famous Soviet sculptor, People's Artist of the USSR, Lenin and State Prize laureate, Honorary Citizen of Ryazan A. P. Kibalnikov and architect R. Begunets. Its installation was timed to a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the great poet. This event took place on October 2, 1975.

The solemn event was attended by connoisseurs and lovers of Yesenin poetry, creative people and ordinary workers. There were close relatives of the poet.
Monument Description
The place where the sculpture was installed (the embankment of Trubezh, near the Ryazan Kremlin) was chosen prudently: from here open the Oka expanses, sincerely sung by the poet in poems.
The material from which the monument to Sergei Yesenin is made in Ryazan is bronze. It is decorated with gray-green granite. Its height is 4.5 meters. This almost twelve-ton sculpture is set on a solid foundation. To make it took more than two hundred cubic meters of concrete. In the manufacture of the pedestal they used a very rare material - polished green granite (amazonite), mined in the Pamirs.
To perform the monument to Yesenin in Ryazan, an unconventional horizontal form was chosen. When looking at this unusual composition, it begins to seem that Yesenin’s figure literally grows out of his native land. With a spiritual face, he recites poetry. Thanks to the wide gesture of the hands, the unbuttoned collar of the shirt, one can feel the subtlety of the human soul, which managed to convey to its descendants the charm of the surrounding nature, the beauty of words.
An integral part of the monument to Yesenin in Ryazan is a monolithic stone lying behind the monument in the shadow of white birches. A flying crane praised by the poet is carved on it. The townspeople call it “the stone of lovers” and are always ready to share a mass of romantic stories and accept about it.
In the background of this composition, a special deepening was made, where the trees that the poet loved so much: birch, mountain ash and maple, swaying from the light breeze.
On Yesenin’s arms, the span of which is eight meters, the citizens and guests of Ryazan like to arrange photo shoots, they are not afraid of the heights for which they have to climb. It is claimed that the poet himself asked not to install a sculpture for him in this city. Nevertheless, the monument to Yesenin in Ryazan fit perfectly into the compositional construction of the embankment, and exactly one year later the author of this unusual composition, Alexander Pavlovich Kibalnikov, was awarded the Ilya Efimovich Repin State Prize of the RSFSR for this work.
