Pine (pinus) in nature is found in Siberia, Europe, Mongolia, China and the Urals. The tree reaches a height of 40 m, its conical and highly raised trunk ends with a rounded crown, in which the branches are located horizontally. In its upper part, the crust is reddish-yellow, and in the lower part it is red-brown in color and thick. The tree has a slightly curved, bluish-green needles.

If you are going to use pine in the landscape of your site, then you need to choose the right variety. Representatives of the subtropics disappear immediately, although they constitute the bulk of the genus. Then we sift out the botanical species, as these are too large trees and are absolutely not suitable for small gardens. For home landscapes, it is better to prefer small and medium-sized species. Several European varieties are suitable: black, ordinary and white. You can buy Weimutov pine - this is an American resident. Unfortunately, our coniferous specimens (Siberian species, cedar and Korean) have no decorative analogues. But there is a wonderful representative who came to us from the mountains of Central Europe and perfectly accustomed to our country. This refers to mountain pine, the planting and care of which is quite simple.

For planting trees, the best time is the end of April and the beginning of May or the end of August and mid-September. If in the autumn period you are late and planted a sapling somewhat at a time, then its roots may not have time to take root. In this case, the whole plant needs to be covered with spanbond or spruce branches so that the sun does not burn it in spring. Shelter needs to be removed somewhere in mid-April, when the ground is already thawing. A well-established seedlings are not required to cover.

Any species of these trees develop better on light soils and sunny places, including mountain pine. Planting and caring for plants should be timely. When planting, it is necessary to use drainage (20 cm) from broken brick or expanded clay and a layer of sand. It’s good if you add complex fertilizer (100g) or nitrofoska (50g) to the planting pit. It is mixed with the ground, well watered, after which a tree can be planted.

At the same time, know that the root neck cannot be deepened, it must be at ground level. And if you plant large-sized plants, then it should be 10 cm above the soil, since the latter will settle over time.

3-5-year-old trees take root best, and the most stable among them is mountain pine. Planting and care is a separate issue, but you still need to be able to choose seedlings.

The first thing you should pay attention to is the root system. In no case should the roots be exposed, otherwise you will buy a deliberately dead tree. The fact is that the bare roots of any of the conifers will begin to die in 15 minutes. And the pine will not have time to restore them, since the evergreen crown needs constant nutrition and moisture, and the tree has no time to grow new roots. Deciduous representatives will simply drop leaves and grow roots. And conifers cannot do this so easily, they change their needles no more often than once every 3-4 years.

In addition, you can not get carried away by large seedlings. The fact is that the pine root system is superficial, and a large tree can simply fall under the influence of wind. You can increase planting reliability if you add soil from under any conifers to the pit. And do not forget that pine prefers good watering.

There are several varieties of the most unpretentious representatives of conifers: pine mountain Pug, Fructata, Winter gold, Benjamin. Each species has a different growth rate, as well as different proportions and sizes. But all these coniferous representatives are united by absolute frost resistance and endurance. They are able to withstand any extreme climate conditions of the Russian middle zone.

And one more thing: when planting several trees, it is imperative to observe the distance between the plants. If these are large specimens, then it should be 4 m, and for undersized enough 1.5 meters. This condition must also be observed when a mountain pine is planted. Planting and care, done correctly, will allow you to grow a great tree, which everyone around will admire.
