Peter Wentz is an American musician and writer. He is known to the general public as the bassist, songwriter and backing vocalist of the rock band Fall Out Boy. Prior to founding Fall Out Boy in 2001, Wentz was a member of Arma Angelus. In addition to his musical career, Pete starred in films, owns his own recording studio and is actively involved in charity work.
early years
Peter Wentz was born on June 5, 1979 in Wilmett, Illinois. He has English and German roots on his father's side, and Afro-Jamaican on his mother's side. Pete is the oldest child in the family, he has a sister, Hillary and brother Andrew.
While studying at school, Wentz played football and for some time planned to build a professional sports career, but he soon realized that he wanted to devote his whole life to music. In one of his interviews, the musician admitted that he liked to play football, but for him it was not an exciting adventure that he wanted to experience in life. In high school, Pete began to skip classes often and became addicted to smoking marijuana. A frivolous attitude to study negatively affected the student's progress and he was forced to change his behavior.
After graduating from high school in 1997, Pete entered De Paul's Private University in Chicago, Illinois. He studied political science, but realized that political science was not his true calling. Wentz decided to leave the university to fully focus on his musical career.
Career in the group Fall Out Boy
In his youth, Wentz was involved in Chicago hardcore punk music and was a member of several bands in the late 1990s. Among them are First Born, Birthright, Extinction, Arma Angelus, Racetraitor. But the main place in his musical career belongs to the pop punk band Fall Out Boy, which Pete founded together with the talented guitarist Joe Throman.
In 2003, the band released their first full-length album, Take This to Your Grave, in collaboration with the American record label Fueled By Ramen. In the same year, the band signed a contract with the largest label Island Records, and in 2004 a mini-album called My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue was released. The third album, From Under the Cork Tree, was released in 2005. Pete Wentz wrote the lyrics for the Sugar song, We're Goin Down. The composition took 8th place in the prestigious Billboard Hot 100.
In 2007, the fourth album of Infinity on High premiered. He was a great success not only in the USA, but also in Europe. The fifth studio album, Folie à Deux, was released on December 13, 2008 and debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 ranking. The group toured extensively in support of their albums.
On November 20, 2009, members of the group announced that they were taking a creative break for an indefinite period. During this period, Pete Wentz was happily married to Ashley Simpson and in an interview he said that he wanted to devote more time to his family. On February 4, 2013, Fall Out Boy unexpectedly announced their return, and on April 12, the group released a new album called Save Rock and Roll, which finished number one on the Billboard 200.
The sixth studio album American Beauty / American Psycho was released in 2015 and again rose to the first line in the ranking. The release of the seventh album Mania officially took place on January 19, 2018 and debuted in first place on the Billboard 200.

In the fall of 2006, information was circulated to the media that a famous rock musician was dating singer Ashley Simpson. Two years later, the couple officially announced their engagement, and on May 17, 2008, Pete and Ashley got married. They invited only their closest relatives and friends to their wedding.
