The modern city of Ryazan is the center of a large region - the Ryazan region. Today in this city there are many wonderful monuments. One of them is Victory Square (Ryazan). However, not only parades and rallies occur on this square, but also very dangerous incidents. We will talk about one of these incidents with this article.

What happened on May 13, 2015

The day of May 13, 2015 turned out to be sunny and warm. Victory Square (Ryazan) was full of people: passers-by walked, ordinary people went to work, students and schoolchildren hurried home from classes.

Naturally, the roadway was occupied by vehicles. Today, roads in the city can hardly cope with the traffic of cars. However, this is a problem not only of Ryazan, but of all the big cities of our country.

However, after 2 pm it became noticeable that a crack forms on the asphalt towards the city center on the roadway. Cars driving along this crack cracked asphalt under them. When a trolley bus with people drove through this place, the crack began to sag.

This place was dangerous because there was a pedestrian crossing nearby, through which a very large number of people always pass through on both sides.

Fortunately, security officers were immediately called in to cordon off the area of failure.

What caused the accident

The employees of Teploset, who arrived, found out that the cause of the asphalt failure was a malfunction of the networks that caused the washing of the soil under the asphalt. The width of the pit formed was approximately 5 meters; its depth was about 4 meters. Later, using a special technique, the pit was enlarged, as this was required by the repair work.

It’s just a miracle that the asphalt didn’t fail during traffic or people moving across the square. Indeed, on the eve of May 9, the city celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Victory, and Victory Square (Ryazan) was the central place for celebrations. Thousands of townspeople, including elderly veterans and preschool children, walked on it and on this unfortunate asphalt on May 9.

In addition, it was on this square in the evening of May 9 that a festive salute took place, to which a large number of citizens came. And most of them brought children with them.

If the failure occurred on the eve of May 13, it is unlikely that the victims could have been avoided.

What happened after the accident

Immediately the news that a pit had formed on Victory Square (Ryazan) circled the whole city. However, not all motorists were able to plan their route in advance and go on bypass routes. In fact, traffic in the city center was paralyzed. Many kilometers of traffic jams formed on the roads from cars.

In addition, it was a Wednesday, a working day, and by 5 o’clock people began to gather, who were used to taking public transport at the Victory Square stop (Ryazan). A large number of citizens were forced to go home on foot, as the transport got up due to a large concentration of cars.

Talk about the accident quickly went around the whole of Ryazan, “Victory Square … the asphalt fell through, ” was heard from all sides. People shared this news with their loved ones. However, the rumors were fearless, as people knew that there were no casualties in the accident.
