Ekaterina Ilyina is a handball player playing in the Russian women's team and the Rostov-Don handball club (Rostov-on-Don) as a point guard. He is the world champion among juniors. As part of the Russian national handball team in 2016, she won gold at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Ekaterina Ilyina was born in Togliatti on March 7, 1991. I got into the handball section at the age of 8, while studying at school. A coach came to their class and talked about this sport. The girls decided to go see a workout. Katya, who fell in love with the atmosphere of team play, and 5 more girls got into the section.
After graduating from the Togliatti Youth Sports School No. 2, the athlete was in the youth team "Lada" - the main club in Togliatti.
The fate of Catherine could have been different. Being a tall and effective girl, as a teenager, she attracted the attention of model agency employees.
They persuaded her to exchange the sport for the podium and photo shoots, but Katya was adamant, and later she never regretted her decision. The excitement of the competition attracted her more.
Sports career
The sports biography of Ekaterina Ilyina began in her hometown in the backup team "Lada". At the age of 18, breaking into the main team was unrealistic due to strong competition.
Alexey Gumyanov, a former Lada coach, headed the new Kuban club in Krasnodar and invited Katya there. After moving to another city, she took a leading position in women's handball.
After returning to Togliatti after some time, Catherine won with the Lada team the EHF Cup - the first trophy in her life. With the same team, she won silver in the championship of Russia, but I wanted to become a champion.
In the city of Rostov-on-Don, a team was organized under the guidance of a coach from Denmark, Jan Leslie. “Rostov-Don” is a serious project. Ilyina gets there, wins domestic competitions and brilliantly performs in the Champions League.
In a game against the Larvik club from Norway, the team debuted in the international arena. The athletes, under a strong impression, were startled at first, but then they confidently took the lead, tuning in the right way.
