- The highest waterfall of Armenia is located in the village. Oganavan. It is called Kasakhsky. Its appearance is associated with the eruption of a volcano. There is a rather interesting explanation of the origin of the name of the Trchkan waterfall. Each year, during spawning, fish usually swim upstream. Once local residents noticed that the fish, swimming against the stream, jumped out of the water to a height of 20 meters (above the waterfall). In this regard, this water cascade was called “Trchkan”, which means “jumping”. And in winter it is a unique sight, due to which it is also called the “Ice Queen”.

Shaki waterfall (or Shaki waterfall) is located 3 kilometers northwest of the resort town of Sisian.

Shaki waterfall is in good harmony with the Paleolithic caves located nearby. There is a statement of historians that in these places, human development took place at tremendous speed.
The territory of this particular waterfall is perceived as an “archaeological pantry”. Several grottoes were discovered here, where people lived in ancient times. Not far from the described places, archaeologists found a large camp, apparently belonging to primitive people. Tools were also found made of stone and the remains of ash.

Shakinsky waterfall has also features. As noted above, it is formed from a very deep gorge, with numerous rocky niches, tunnels and grottoes located in it. And local residents claim that its waters have special energy and strength. After all, near the Shaki waterfall there are mineral springs with healing properties, and lakes. Their waters help in the prevention and even treatment of many diseases.
These amazing places are shrouded in mysterious and magical stories. And people associate the occurrence of this natural phenomenon with an ancient legend. Once upon a time, one of the local rulers decided to get a beautiful girl for themselves, moreover, against her will. The girl, in order to remain free, jumped into the abyss from a high cliff. During the jump, the hem of her skirt was formed by a chain of cascades, which turned into this waterfall, pleasing to the eye.
