Yuri Grigoryevich Khachaturov - Colonel General, Armenian military leader. He was born in the Georgian SSR, in Tetri Tskaro. Since 2017, he has been the Secretary General of the CSTO. Yuri Khachaturov was educated at the artillery command of the Red Banner School. He graduated in 1974 with honors. After Yuri Grigoryevich was appointed commander of a fire platoon in an artillery regiment, part of the motorized rifle division of the Far Eastern Military District. In the period 1976-1982. he was the battery commander.

In 1982-1985 Yuri Grigoryevich attended the Leningrad Military Artillery Academy Kalinin. He was a student at the command department. After graduating from the academy, Yuri Grigoryevich became the chief of staff of the missile forces, artillery in the Belarusian military district. He served in the Fifth Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Fortieth Army in Afghanistan.

From 1987 to 1989, he was the chief of staff of the missile forces, as well as artillery. In 1989, Yuri Grigoryevich graduated from service in Afghanistan. After that, he became the commander of a separate artillery brigade belonging to the tank army in the Belarusian military district.

Service in Armenia

In 1992, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus issued a special order by which Yuri Grigoryevich was seconded to Armenia. There he was placed at the disposal of the local Ministry of Defense and became commander of the Second Motorized Rifle Regiment. Khachaturov took part in hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.

He was actively involved in the protection of the state border of the Republic of Armenia. Since 1992, Yuri Grigoryevich - head of the border troops department, deputy commander. He was engaged in the formation of the first and fourth army corps and the Goris regiment.

In 2000, a Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia on the appointment of Khachaturov as Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia was issued. In 2008, Yuri Grigoryevich became the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

The Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia was also signed about this. Since 2016, Khachaturov has been Secretary of the National Security Council. He soon became Secretary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. He took this post in 2017.
