Did you have a childhood dream of exploring the runway from the tower of controllers, running around the runway? If so, then there is a chance that she will come true. True, the cherished desire will be realized not in the current, but in an abandoned airport. Believe me, these abandoned objects retained their once inherent romance.

Moscow Bykovo Airport

Seven years ago, one of the oldest airports in Moscow, Bykovo, was closed, built in the 30s of the last century.

There are several used aircraft on the territory now. It's funny that all unnecessary aircraft survived their aviation companies, which closed at the end of the zero of our century.

Aircraft cemetery in Kazan

Image

The territory adjacent to the airport of Kazan with abandoned aircraft attracts the attention of local residents and guests of the third capital of the country. Here, young people conduct dangerous photography. They climb onto the wings and fuselage of aircraft, into the former cockpit and arrange quite dangerous photo shoots there. Many tourists here get bumps and abrasions, and even more difficult injuries. Nevertheless, this place arouses in people a thirst for exploration and adventure. Of course, I would like to visit the parks of Kazan, and I want to visit the abandoned airport even more!

Protection of abandoned aircraft in Kazan

Unfortunately, this territory is not protected; the aircraft of the Tatarstan Airlines, which has become bankrupt, are located on it. According to the law, property owners must protect abandoned aircraft and airports. Tatarstan Airlines does not own aircraft. They are owned by a company registered in Cyprus.

Airfield in the Tula region

Image

In the Tula region there is an airfield that stopped working about ten years ago. It was organized in the 50s of the last century. The 191st Fighter Regiment of the Moscow Air Defense District, which was disbanded in 1994, was based here. After that, the 239th separate guards helicopter regiment was based at the airport for some time. It was disbanded four years later. The airfield was completely empty in 2001.

Ten years later, the governor remembered the airport, saying that he intends to restore abandoned airports and airfields in the region. However, nothing came of this.

Now on the airdrome area there are skeletons of the control tower and the aircraft control center. The runway itself remained.

Old Anadyr Airport

In Anadyr there is an old inactive abandoned airport. The civilian airfield worked before the airborne was located near Coal Mines. Unfortunately, there was nothing left of the runway; it was overgrown. The airport building today is one wall.

Biysk Airport

In the heyday of aviation in Russia, the abandoned Biysk airport had a concrete runway with a distance of two thousand seven hundred meters. Soon she fell into disrepair. For some reason, it was decided to repair one and a half thousand meters of strip, and the rest should not be repaired.

Nine years ago, the airport stopped allowing regular flights. The runway is completely overgrown. The airport was mothballed in anticipation of profitable times.

Faithful dogs help guard the territory of the airport. Near the tower there is a parking area for equipment that once worked at the airfield. There is a fire truck, a trailer to the tractor for transporting passengers in a strip, equipment for cleaning the strip from snow. The equipment of the airport, fortunately, is carefully wrapped up. As we wrote above, there are different examples in the history of our country. Although, most likely, the equipment is already outdated and still needs to be disposed of. The strip is completely overgrown with grass. Green life every summer stubbornly makes its way between the plates.

Recently, words have often been heard that with the resumption of the airport in Gorno-Altaisk, the need for an airport in Biysk has disappeared. They are located at a distance of less than one hundred kilometers from each other. It is worth noting that between the airports of Anapa and Gelendzhik only sixty-six kilometers, between the airports of Stavropol and Mineralnye Vody - one hundred twenty kilometers. The opinion that the abandoned airport in Biysk is unnecessary is refuted by the current practice in our country. It is necessary to develop the city.

A photo of the abandoned airport is presented below.

The most western unnecessary airport

Developing the airdrome theme in the Kaliningrad region, we will be transported to its southern territory. Between Kaliningrad and Bagrationovskiy, the unnecessary military airfield Severny is located. It functioned until the end of the 90s, after which it was decided to close it. This sad fate befell a huge number of military facilities in our country in the unstable nineties. The airfield was built by the Germans in the late 30s.

Currently, the grass-covered runways of the base are used by visiting riders who drive there on their cars. The territory of the abandoned military base is guarded by a formally security organization, which selectively allows those who wish to drive along the lane and dismantle hangars for scrap.

After the closure of the airfield, he and the adjacent military towns lost the status of sensitive facilities. The military continues to live and serve in other places there. Closed regime villages lost their former status and privileges, turning into forgotten, remote places.

Ust-Ilimsk Airport

Image

The regional airport of the city is located seventeen kilometers from the north-western point of Ust-Ilimsk. The city is located in the Irkutsk region.

Currently, the building, unfortunately, is not functioning. The airport began operating in 1980. It was equipped with powerful equipment in accordance with ICAO international standards, and is capable of receiving and sending four hundred and fifty passengers per hour during the day.

From June 2001 to the current days, the airport is not operational. The debt of the aviation enterprise to creditors exceeded forty million rubles; its work was stopped. In 2005, bankruptcy proceedings were completed. During this long time, the building and the nearby infrastructure were severely destroyed.

Reconstruction and full restoration will require large financial costs. During the bankruptcy process, the company's property and some of the objects were sold, some of them were given to the introduction of the Ust-Ilim region.

It is worth saying that the port territory is not protected. Unsold property during this time was promptly exported to an unknown destination. Young people use the lane for racing. The issue of resuming the airport was raised more than once; a number of companies in the capital showed interest in this. Later, companies refused to buy an airport for various reasons. The district administration transferred it to the balance of the local village free of charge. Resuming work seems impossible.
