The Moscow Metro (Moscow Metro) is primarily an underground rail public electric transport in Moscow. Partially enters the territory of the Moscow region. It is a well-developed transport network. It is the largest in Russia and the former USSR and the sixth largest passenger traffic in the world. It was opened in 1935, becoming the first in the history of the USSR.

Filevskaya metro line is located in the western part of the capital and mainly runs on the surface. The closure of the Filevskaya metro line in October 2018 was associated with repair work and concerned only part of it.
Moscow metro lines
The total number of metro lines is 14. One of them is the Moscow Central Ring. Each line is indicated by a circle of a certain color with a number assigned to it. Almost all of them pass through the central part of the Russian capital. The only exceptions are the Butovskaya and Kakhovskaya lines.
Filevskaya metro line
This line is indicated by a blue circle and has a 4th number. It was opened in 1958, and the last station related to this line began to function in 2006.
The length of the Filevskaya line is 14.9 km. The number of stations at it is 13, and the average distance between them is 1.24 km. The average depth of the stations is 6.28 meters, which is much less than most other lines of the Moscow metro.
The Filevskaya line is located in the western part of the subway network. This is the western part of the city. Here is a historical district called Fili. The Filevskaya line is characterized by frequent access to the surface. The length of the stations is small, and it does not accommodate more than 6 cars. The track itself is often uneven, angular, with the presence of slopes.
About 143, 000 people pass the Filevskaya metro line of Moscow per day.
History of the Filevskaya line
The history of the line dates back to 1935. Then the first site was built: "Comintern Street" - "Smolenskaya". Filevskaya metro line after 2 years was completed to the station. "Kiev". Due to military operations in 1941, after a bomb hit the tunnel, it was decided to abandon this line, and instead build a parallel section, but at a greater depth. As a result, warehouses were equipped at the stations, and reserve trains were kept in the tunnels.
But a few years later they decided to abandon the new construction, and it was decided to re-open the Kalininskaya - Kievskaya section and continue this line further to the west. The reopening took place on November 7, 1958.
At first, it was supposed to open the entire site from “Fillet” to “Kiev” as a whole. However, one of the tunnels was not completed on time, so initially the trains began to go to the Kutuzovskaya station, and not to the Fili station. The latter was opened only on 11/11/1959, that is, exactly one year later.
It was gradually extended, adding new stations of the Filevskaya metro line. This happened in 1961, 1965 and in 1989. In 2005, a branch was built from the line that went to the "Business Center" (now it is the Vystavochnaya station). And in 2006, the next International station was opened. In 2008, the line was reduced to Art. "Kuntsevskaya" in connection with the transition of its part to the Arbat-Pokrovskaya, which was associated with the development of the latter.
Train models
During the existence of the line, different types of rolling stock were used on it. There were over 10 models in total. They successively replaced each other. However, in recent years, preference has been given to trains of the Moscow model. From 2019, only such will go along the line.
Line perspective
In the near future, there will be no construction work to extend the line. In the long run, there is a likelihood of its extension in the western direction to Skolkovo, Mozhaysky, Troekurovo.
Closing of Filevskaya metro line
On the sixth and seventh of October 2018, the section between the Kuntsevskaya and Kievskaya stations was closed for repair. These numbers fell on the weekend. Repair was of a capital nature. The following stations of the Moscow Metro are included in the closed section: Studentskaya, Pionerskaya, Kutuzovskaya, Fili, Filevsky Park, Bagrationovskaya. As for the Kuntsevskaya station, it will operate only within the Arbat-Pokrovskaya line. Thus, the closure of the Filevskaya metro line was short-lived and incomplete.
The site was supposed to resume work on Monday, the 8th, at 5:30. In order to compensate for the shortage of transport connections, it was supposed to organize the transportation of passengers on buses along special routes KM1 and KM2. The former were supposed to run between the Kievskaya and Kuntsevskaya stations, and the latter between stations. Fili and Bagrationovskaya. Opening hours - from 5:00 to 2:00. At closed metro stations, the duty of inspectors was supposed.
The planned reconstruction of the Filevskaya metro line included: strengthening the retaining walls between the Studentskaya and Kutuzovskaya stations, finishing the platform and concreting the halls of the Kuntsevskaya station, carrying out construction work at the Bagrationovskaya and Filevsky park stations, laying pipelines under railway track. Such work required the cessation of train traffic.
Technical features of the Filevskaya line
- This is the only line of the Moscow metro, which does not use reverse dead ends beyond the last stations.
- Of the six metro stations with curved platforms, 4 belong to the Filevskaya line.
- A record-breaking distance between stations in Moscow (498 meters) is on this line. These are Vystavochnaya and Mezhdunarodnaya stations.
- Between Vystavochnaya and Kievskaya there is the largest tilt angle among all the stretches of the Moscow metro.
- The longest land section (between Student's and Kuntsevskaya). Its length is 9.6 km, and the travel time on it is 16.5 minutes.
