Zelenogorsk is a small resort town located only 55 km from St. Petersburg. Once this settlement belonged to Finland and was a holiday village. Many locals still remember the Finnish name of their city - Terioki. Today Zelenogorsk is included in the Leningrad region. History and modernity of the park
According to information from authoritative historical sources, the main green recreation area of modern Zelenogorsk was created no later than 1954. Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Rest is relatively small, its total area is about 27 hectares. The layout of the recreation area is typical for resort towns. The main entrance to the park is located in the city center, and the central alley leads to the shore of the Gulf of Finland. When creating a recreation area, it included three streets of Zelenogorsk: Havannaya, Teatralnaya and Raspberry. They retained their names, but at the same time they are officially pedestrian alleys, closed for cars.
According to the recollections of old-timers, in the 20th century there were casinos, restaurants and dance floors in the city park. Today, of the old buildings on the territory of the green zone, only the shabby Summer Cinema has remained. Restoring the building is unprofitable, the administration plans to demolish it and erect a modern entertainment facility on this site.
Fun for the whole family
Today Zelenogorsk Central Park of Culture, recreation pleases its guests with a landscaped area. Pedestrian alleys are paved with fresh tiles, there are enough benches for relaxation for everyone. In the summer, the recreation area is surrounded by greenery, flower beds are broken here, a fountain is open. There are many modern decorative sculptures on the territory of the park with which you can make interesting photographs as a keepsake. There is also an avenue of attractions, most of which are designed for children and adolescents. What is especially nice, the cost of all entertainment is quite acceptable.
There are kiosks in the recreation area where you can buy souvenirs, snacks and drinks. The most hungry vacationers will surely enjoy the menu of the local Italian restaurant. If you are looking for a place to temporarily live in the city, you do not have to leave the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Rest. The recreation center, consisting of several guest houses, is located in the far secluded part of the green zone. In the active tourist season, reservations should be made in advance.
Golden beach
Walking along the central alley right to the very end, you can go to the Golden Beach of the Gulf of Finland. Here you can sunbathe and enjoy the incredible views. Somewhere in the distance, large ships sail, from Zelenogorsk you can admire the cathedrals of Kronstadt and the new residential complexes of St. Petersburg. Be careful, swimming in the Gulf of Finland is not recommended! But, despite this official warning, many vacationers visit the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Rest in order to cool off. Golden Beach pleases with a sufficient level of amenities. There are free showers and changing rooms.
Recreation Area Attractions
Be sure to go to the monument to George Vitsin when you decide to visit the Zelenogorsk Park of Culture and Rest. Zelenogorsk - the birthplace of the People's Artist of the USSR, a sculpture of this talented man is installed in the main city recreation area. There is also a comic monument in the park - bronze boots of a summer resident. This object is noteworthy in that everyone can be photographed, “wearing shoes” in perpetuated shoes.
In the recreation area is a museum of retro cars. The ticket price is symbolic - 100 rubles per person. The collection contains quite rare and interesting specimens. During a walk in the park, you can also visit the small contact zoo farm. Also recently, a wind tunnel was built in the recreation area - a popular extreme attraction.
