He studied at the Nicholas School, which is located in the city of Buffalo (New York). He graduated in 1984, after which he entered the Academy of Diplomatic Service. There he studied from 1985 to 1989. The Academy belonged to Georgetown University. It was there that Lee Matthew received a bachelor's degree in the field of international relations, which is so popular today.
Early years
After graduating from the academy, he began working in newspapers such as the Daily Progress and Washington Post. Then, in 1994, he decided to move to Cambodia. There, Lee Matthew became a freelance reporter for a newspaper called The Cambodia Daily. In parallel, he worked for several other media outlets. For example, at the end of 2010, he demanded the release of a Palestinian activist who was the head of the movement of the village of Bilin, which opposed the construction of a wall near this village, protecting the inhabitants of the area from their farmland. This man was then imprisoned in an Israeli prison. The journalist did not wait for clear answers. And when he once again heard that “the United States is closely monitoring this situation, ” he was indignant, why not speak specifically about the accused citizen who does not practice any violence, but simply stands for his and other people's rights. Then Philip Weiss, another American correspondent, said that Matt in this situation is a person who shows ordinary human participation, while risking a professional career. But essentially, Matt thus reminded everyone what a real journalist should be.
