At 116 years old, Kane experienced many adversities. But, despite her advanced age and health problems, the Japanese woman is still as happy as possible. She was the youngest, seventh child in the family, and as a child realized: in order to be happy, she must create her own big family.

Like many other Japanese women of the time, Kane met her husband, Hideo Tanaka, on their wedding day.
