Biography

Aliya Mustafina was born in Yegoryevsk near Moscow in September 1994 in the family of an athlete and teacher in physics. Aliya's father was engaged in Greco-Roman wrestling, a bronze medalist at the Olympic Games-76, a coach at the CSKA school. From childhood, Alia and her younger sister Naila knew firsthand what sport is - a father instilled in his daughters a love of physical education.

Having barely signed up for the sports section at the gymnastics department, Aliya Mustafina began to show good results in the framework of children's competitions. Later, speaking at junior competitions, she occupied exceptionally high places.

The girl was trained by the famous mentor Alexander Alexandrov, who saw the potential of the young athlete and was able to develop it to unprecedented heights.

After triumphant victories at the Russian Championship-2009, the Russian Cup, the World Gymnasium, the European Championship 2010, the Russian Cup 2010, the World Cup 2010, in April 2011 at the European Championship, performing a vault, Alia injured her leg. Doctors issued a verdict - cruciate ligaments of the left knee are torn.

Injuries in athletes are a tragedy not only of a physical nature, but also a psychological one. However, after the operation and the recovery period, Alia said that she was not afraid of anything and was ready to continue her career. And a year later she took part in her first Olympic Games, which were held in London.

This gold award was the first in the piggy bank of the national team at the Olympic Games in this sport in the 21st century.
