Biography

Irina Vladimirovna Kolesnikova was born at the end of April 1980 in Leningrad. From childhood, she was engaged in figure skating, swimming and rhythmic gymnastics. Once a girl saw a ballet production on a TV screen. Since then, she has not left her mother alone, demanding that she be taken to a ballet school. Later, Irina will say:

My mother simply could not imagine what it was, so I probably agreed. People at the beginning do not encounter the inside of the profession, they only see the outside: extravaganza, beauty, lightness, smiles, dances. They are not familiar with the flip side of the coin, so every mother, observing such beauty, wants her child to grow up, surrounded by all this magnificence.

Six years later, my mother invited Irina to quit ballet. This was due to the fact that she understood: this art consists not only of beautiful costumes and smooth movements, but also of incredible work. Kolesnikova refused to leave the ballet - too much effort was devoted to this work. In 1998, Irina Kolesnikova became a graduate of the Agrippina Yakovlevna Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. By the way, the girl’s teacher was Professor Elvira Valentinovna Kokorina - Honored Artist.

Ballet Theater Konstantin Tachkin

Immediately after graduation, the outstanding ballerina was invited to the St. Petersburg Ballet Theater Konstantin Tachkin. Irina became a soloist, and the role of her teacher went to the honored artist of the Russian Federation Svetlana Efremova, who was later replaced by Lyubov Kunakova.

Personal life

Irina's husband is Konstantin Tachkin, founder and CEO of the Konstantin Tachkin Ballet Theater. In June 2014, the couple had a daughter, Vasilina. The children of Konstantin, Ustin and Anastasia, are also brought up in this family.

By the way, speaking about Vasilina, Irina always notes - she would not want her daughter to become a ballerina. Against this is Constantine. However, parents understand that they will have to send the girl to a ballet school, because she is distinguished by excellent physical data, coordination, and perception. But the girl will have a choice - she will be able to decide what she will do.

The fight for the rights of dancers

In May 2016, it became known that prima sharply condemned ballet troupes for keeping dancers in harsh conditions. Irina said: troupes literally force artists to work every day for at least ten hours, which is simply counterproductive. At the same time, the ballerina did not begin to point out any specific ones, saying that they sinned this in all countries of the world.

The ballet dancer shared her memories from her childhood. All the time spent in the choreographic school, the girl felt like an “ugly duckling” - Irina struggled with being overweight, but did not receive support from teachers. On the contrary, teachers only criticized, admits prima:

Diminishing our dignity in the classroom, our teachers thought they were helping us correct our shortcomings and did not understand that they were only undermining our faith in ourselves. They injured the children's psyche, and even after the passage of time, not everyone was able to overcome this. Sometimes these requirements are on the verge of an obsession and have nothing to do with your true fulfillment.

Kolesnikova herself admitted - for her entire career she danced Swan Lake about a thousand times, besides, in just 11 days of touring in London, she performed two La Bayadères and seven Swan Lakes! To cope with such a volume of work Irina Kolesnikova helped only a quiet rehearsal period.
