The king of mushrooms in our area can rightfully be considered boletus (porcini mushroom). The dream of every true collector is a clearing with a whole placer of this natural treasure.

Beginners, however, should know that in the forest you can meet a false white mushroom, the use of which can face very unpleasant consequences.

A real boletus is distinguished by a stocky and thick-set leg, an elastic brown (or slightly yellowish) hat and a delicate mushroom aroma that the experienced collector will not confuse with anything. The poisonous double simulates all these signs well, but nevertheless there are some "tricks" by which it can be easily figured out. Note that you need to be extremely careful, since the white fungus is false (it is also bitter) if it is accidentally consumed, it leads to serious food poisoning.

If you are distinguished by an extreme mindset, then you can try a small piece of pulp, which is very bitter in a “fake”. But it is better to cut off the leg of the mushroom and look at the color of the cut. The leg of a real boletus on the cut will be perfectly white, while the mustard gives out a light pink tint.

And one more sign: in a true porcini mushroom, the leg does not have any net pattern, which is characterized by its poisonous double. If in doubt, look at the inside of the hat. The false white fungus is again highlighted by the pink color of the tubular layer, whereas in the boletus it is yellow.

But much worse than the mustard is its subspecies, which is known as the "Satanic mushroom." Just one gram of this unpleasant “goodies” is guaranteed to cause severe food poisoning.

Unfortunately, he is also very similar to his noble relative, and therefore inexperienced mushroom pickers are often the victim of his satanic treachery. In order not to be among them, you need to carefully look at the leg. Note that the satanic white fungus is perfectly masked by the color and appearance of the hat. But his leg, which has a red, yellow and even purple hue, can quickly alert even a novice mushroom picker. Under no circumstances should such a find be put in the basket!

It is even more reliable to look at the color of the cut, which quickly becomes not just pink, but saturated red. It is necessary to pay attention to it, buying mushrooms on the ruins (which is generally not recommended). Remember that normal boletus has a pleasant mushroom aroma. Its poisonous relative (especially the old one) has a pronounced unpleasant odor.

Another false white mushroom, the signs of which we would like to describe, is often called "Polish". Unlike the varieties described above, it is completely edible. Unlike the real "king of mushrooms", its section quickly turns blue.

In addition, the shape of his legs is much more regular and even. The hat is dark red or brown-red, which also distinguishes it from other representatives of the genus. By the way, when you press the inside of the cap, the pressure point also turns blue.

So you have learned about what a false white mushroom looks like! We hope that after reading our article you will no longer put it in the basket.
