Today we will describe the old age in joy charitable foundation operating in Moscow. Its history began in 2006, when a freshman-philologist named Lisa Oleskina went to folk practice. While searching for folk songs, the girl visited a rural nursing home. Returning to Moscow, she did not forget the sadness and poverty reigning in this institution.

History

The future founder of the Old Age in Joy charitable foundation Lisa tried to find organizations that provide assistance to older people in Moscow, she did not succeed, and the girl decided to act independently. In May 2007, a girl on a social network published an invitation to everyone to celebrate Victory Day together by visiting a veteran’s house near Moscow.

To the surprise of Lisa, there were many who wanted to. By the end of the year, a group of people gathered around the girl who wished to provide targeted assistance to lonely old people. Then Lisa decided to return to the previously visited nursing home, which is located in the Pskov region. After that, she and a group of people went to the next institution of this type.

There were many such stops. Sometimes provincial boarding school workers asked to visit the next. More often, Lisa and her friends searched for nursing homes on their own, using oblast sites and address books. The team gradually grew, and in 2011, the Volunteer for Joy fund for helping older people was created by this volunteer movement.

Since then, much has changed - programs of material and medical assistance, organization of rehabilitation and leisure have appeared. Fund branches arose in institutions that contain the weakest grandparents. Some of them have babysitting organizations and monthly care products and medicines.

One thing has remained unchanged: every weekend, volunteers of the fund go to nursing homes, arranging a celebration with a concert in them. In addition, thousands of letters are sent monthly by remote grandchildren to correspondence grandmothers. At the moment, the organization oversees 150 boarding houses from 25 regions of Russia.

The fund pays for the work of about a hundred additional care assistants, as well as cultural workers for the weakest old people. The organization pays for care products, as well as medicines for nursing homes and hospitals.

Mission

In this organization, older people are not divided into rear workers, veterans, disabled children and military widows. Help is also provided to everyone, regardless of whether the person is at home or in a special institution.
