Arthur Beterbiev is a Russian professional boxer of Chechen descent, Honored Master of Sports of the international class of Russia (2007), performing in the light heavyweight category (up to 81 kilograms). Among the boxer's sporting achievements, the following can be distinguished: world champion 2009, European champion 2006, 2010, winner of the 2008 World Cup. Beterbiev is also the holder of titles according to the WBA-NABA (from 2014 to the present) and IBF North America (from 2014) years to the present).

Biography and acquaintance with boxing
Born on January 21 in 1985 in the city of Khasavyurt, Dagestan (USSR). From a young age he began to play sports. The main motivators were his older brothers, who from a young age were engaged in boxing and were tall and strong guys. Looking at them, Arthur always caught himself thinking that he wanted to be the same.
At the age of eleven, he enters the boxing section and begins to actively study this sports discipline. The guy had good skills and physical characteristics, but the discipline was not so smooth. Arthur was an extremely spoiled and naughty child, because of which he was more than once expelled from a sports school.
First rewards and achievements
In 2001, Arthur Beterbiev made his debut in high-level competitions. This was the world championship in boxing among the cadets, in which he managed to take 3rd place. The following years, the guy actively trained and collected awards in various Russian boxing tournaments.
In 2006, Arthur entered into a professional contract with the sports organization Ring Magnitogorsk from Magnitogorsk, where he subsequently moved to permanent residence. In the same year, the boxer wins a silver medal in the Russian championship. Prior to this, in 2004 and 2005, Arthur Beterbiev took bronze medals here. Under the auspices of the Ring Magnitogorsk boxer also performed at the World Championships in Chicago (2007), where he won a silver medal.
After a successful performance at the world championship, Arthur confirmed his status at the Russian Championship in 2007. Here he fought in light heavyweight and managed to win the first gold of his career at a high level.
In 2011, boxer Arthur Beterbiev decided to switch to the heavy weight category. The fact is that a new potential leader appeared on the national team, who had all hopes. It was Yegor Mekhontsev (2012 Olympic champion).

In 2013, the boxer signs a contract with Canadian promoters GYM and debuts in Montreal in the summer. Quickly adapting to new rules and standards, the Chechen boxer began to win from the very first fights. Beterbiev’s first rivals were little-known strong professionals, with whom he could easily cope. After a short training session with the Canadian Jornimenas, Arthur reached a new level.
The first serious rival was the former IBF champion American Tevoris Cloud, who had two defeats in a row before the fight with Beterbiev. Heavyweights Canadian Adonis Stevenson and American Bernard Hopkins became the offenders of Cloud.
Despite this, Tavoris Cloud was considered an indisputable favorite. The result of the duel shocked everyone: in the first round, Arthur Beterbiev, without slowing down, delivered the strongest blows, thanks to which Tevoris was knocked down three times. In the second round, the humiliation of the Russian opponent ended: Arthur once again sent the American to a knockdown, after which he could not stand on the countdown of the referee. As a result, the battle was stopped, and Beterbiev won.

In 2014, December 19, Arthur Beterbiev fought with the invincible Jeff Page Jr. It was a fight for the vacant WBO-NABO and IBF North America titles. During the match Beterbiev dominated noticeably and already in the second round at 2.21 minutes, Jeff Page fell on the platform of the ring and the judge considered the victory by knockout in favor of the Russian.
