Adonis flowers (photo of varieties can be seen below) are annual or perennial herbaceous plants from the large Ranunculaceae family. It is believed that they got their name from the name of the ancient Greek god Adonis, who was killed by boar on a hunt, and this beautiful flower grew from his blood. Although there is another opinion that the plant was named for the Assyrian god Adon.

Flowers adonis is a beautiful early flowering plant that prefers fertile loose soil in the open, although it can grow quietly in partial shade. It should be noted that this flower grows rather slowly and is very sensitive to transplantation. It is advisable to loosen and moisten the soil around it regularly. It can be propagated by seeds and division of the bush. However, experienced flower growers are not advised to resort to division until the plant reaches five years of age. After planting (in the first year), adonis will bloom weakly, and already from the second year the plant will delight owners with abundant flowering. Usually, adonis flowers are used in group plantings, and they also look spectacular among shrubs. It is best to plant them near tracks or on stony hills, giving preference to the western and eastern sides.
