Architectural features

Metro "Turgenevskaya" - a station located in the city center. Nearby are Chistye Prudy, without a mention of which even a brief excursion into the history of Moscow is not complete. The exit from Turgenevskaya is on Myasnitskaya Street, which should be given special attention. But first, it’s worth talking about the architecture of the station itself.

Pylons are faced with light marble. On the walls are brass inserts. The floor at the Turgenevskaya metro station was originally also laid out with marble, but then this material was replaced with gray granite. The design was attended by artist Khaim Rysin, who also decorated stations such as Kitay Gorod, Barrikadnaya, and Novoslobodskaya.

From the center of the hall you can go to the Sokolniki branch. Namely, at the station "Chistye Prudy". But in order to be in the famous park area, it is not necessary to go through the subway. Exit from the Turgenevskaya metro station is to Myasnitskaya Street, on the opposite side of Chistye Prudy. There are several ground crossings, car traffic is not particularly rapid.

Myasnitskaya street

The city of Moscow has an amazing history. Metro "Turgenevskaya" - station, having reached which, the passenger is in one of the most beautiful and comfortable areas of the capital. And it seems that it has always been this way. At least that's what a person who has not read the famous book of Gilyarovsky will think. Where can you be if you climb the long escalator from the Turgenevskaya metro station?

Exits lead to the square of the same name, Academician Sakharov Avenue and, as already mentioned, to Myasnitskaya. The name of this street suggests that not people of art lived or worked here before. Until the end of the seventeenth century, where now there are many cafes, restaurants and shops, meat was sold. But the brisk merchants were pushed towards the Earthen rampart. The name of the street has not changed since. However, in 1935 it was renamed, like many other objects in the city, and throughout the country. Until 1990, Myasnitskaya was Kirov Street.
