The life of the city and its inhabitants consists of many elements. And the sphere of culture plays far from the last role here. Museums, theaters, art galleries - an indispensable component of the modern urban environment. The original idea of the embodiment of cultural space can be seen on the example of the Palace of Arts of Ivanovo.

Retrospective

In the early 30s of the last century, it was decided to build a city theater in a picturesque place on Pokrovskaya Gora (now - Pushkin Square, Ivanovo). The author of a large-scale project, according to which the building was to be headed by the city architectural ensemble, was V. A. Vasiliev. In September 1940, after completion of work, the opening of the theater was marked by the premiere of the play “Kremlin Chimes”.

In 1960, the building had to be closed for reconstruction. The project of the Giproteatr Institute provided for the creation of a theatrical and entertainment complex while maintaining the external proportions of the existing theater. Reconstruction continued until 1987, including the construction of new multi-level halls, the decor of facades with tufa and limestone.

Ivanovo Palace of Arts today

The scale of the building is fully consistent with the tasks that are solved by the organizations located in it. Today, the Ivanovo State Theater Complex is the focus of the cultural life of residents and guests of the city. It includes:

  • Regional Drama Theater (auditorium with 733 seats);
  • Puppet Theater of Ivanovo (about 300 seats);
  • musical theater (almost 1, 500 seats).

This is a magnificent building (from 2 to 7 floors) up to 150, 000 m 3 in size. The Palace of Arts in Ivanovo accommodates several separately operating theater halls, under which there are vestibules, connected by a number of grand staircases.
